For the frosting: In a small saucepan, combine sugar, butter, and milk. Bring to a boil. Continue boiling for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove pan from heat and stir in chocolate chips until smooth. Immediately pour over cooled cake.
I had this cake for my church party on Sat. night and made it the next day for Valentine's Day. Best Chocolate cake I have ever had. So yummy. I put red sugar on top of the frosting for the special day and it was crunchy and good with the red sugar on it. Brought in leftovers for my coworkers and anxious to see what they say about it.

I have eaten this but it looked different. Your cherries look like candied cherries. What brand did you use? Thanks for the recipe.
Steph,
I make this frequently and it IS outstanding(hubby loves it)..I also use Blueberry pie filling with White cake mix and vanilla instead of almond. A white chocolate chip glaze to finish:)
This makes my mouth water:) I saved the recipe to make soon! Have a blessed day, HUGS!
