This Citrus BBQ Grilled Chicken has been on repeat at our house. Chicken marinated in orange juice, lime juice, garlic, and chicken bouillon and finished off with BBQ sauce. YUM! This only takes a minute to whip up and tastes AMAZING! It is so tender and juicy and packed FULL of great flavors. We ate this for lunch and had the leftovers for dinner the same day. It is that good! I usually double the recipe so we have leftovers. It is great in chicken salad.
How to Make Citrus BBQ Chicken
As I said, this is effortless to make. Place the chicken in a gallon ziplock bag. Whisk together orange juice, lime juice, garlic, and chicken bouillon. Pour the marinade over the chicken and refrigerate for a few hours. Remove the chicken from the marinade and cook on the grill until the chicken reaches 165ºF. Brush the chicken on both sides with BBQ sauce and serve.
- Pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness to ensure the chicken is evenly cooked. We put the chicken in a ziplock bag and use a meat mallet to gently pound out the thicker hump. This eliminates the thinner part of the breast drying out while you are trying to get the thicker end cooked.
- My favorite store-bought BBQ sauces are Sweet Baby Rays, Stubbs, G.Hughes, and Williamson Brothers.
- Can use the marinade on any cut of chicken – breasts, tenders, thighs, wings, or legs.
- Can use bone-in or boneless chicken. Adjust cooking time to ensure an internal temperature of 165ºF.
- To cook chicken without a grill, pan-sear the breasts for 3 to 4 minutes per side. Place on a rimmed baking sheet. Bake at 400ºF for 10 minutes.
What to Serve with BBQ Glazed Chicken
This chicken has quickly become a favorite at our house. We’ve been making it at least once a month. The leftovers are delicious on a salad, on top of a baked potato, or in a sandwich wrap. We usually serve the chicken with a potato casserole and some green beans or broccoli.
