Pin This RecipeBehold “The Crack Burger” – burgers packed full of cheddar cheese, bacon and ranch flavor. These burgers tasted fantastic! They were super juicy and packed full of great flavor. We topped the burgers with lettuce, tomato, mustard, and mayo.
Make sure to use at least ground chuck – the burgers will fall apart if your beef if too lean. I also suggest flipping the burgers only once – allow the burger to cook for 4 minutes and then flip and cook an additional 4 minutes for medium or 5 minutes for medium-well burgers. This recipe is not to be missed!

Another option is to sub ranch dressing for the dry ranch mix and sour cream. It’s my favorite way to make grilled burgers.
How much sour cream do I use for 21/2 pounds of ground beef?
Brenda, one teaspoon per half pound.
Would the real bacon bits from a bag work? I hate cooking bacon! Thanks!
Yes – that would be fine
Fabulous burger! Definitely going to be a regular "turn to" recipe for quick meals and potlucks at work! Thanks for the recipe!
I made these delicious burgers tonight, with one difference… I took a 9×13 pan ,lined it with fool, and then sprayed it with non-stick spray, then spread out the whole amount of prepared meat into the square of the pan,and baked them… when done I cut the square into 4 equal squares… ,easier when it's is a really hot and muggy afternoon, and we wish to cook indoors…. So glad you shared the recipe , thanks 😉
Correction… on Susie's post by Susie …I lined the pan with'' FOIL'' …not Fool, haaa haaa, if only this had beed April 1st, I could have had some fun… oh, well ,''Foiled'' again… ha,ha
These burgers were pretty amazing! I made them for my mom and I for lunch. I grilled some onions in a foil packet to go on top of them and it was perfection! Thanks for sharing the recipe!
Made these tonight! Amazing! And just as good as the 10 dollar burgers up the street. Will make again.
Made the burgers on Mothers Day and they were a hit!
cajuncutie – those are Rally's/Checker's fries. I got them at Wal-Mart. I think Target sells them too
One question please….what kind of fries are those you show with this awesome burger? They look fan-tas-ticly yummy!!!
Amazing burgers! We made them tonight and they were so good.
I made this last night and it was fantastic. My new go to recipe for burgers!!! Thank you! I love your blog. Keep the recipes coming and I like the week menu too. Have a great day.
Anything with crack in the title is bound to make me want to make it immediately. These look amazing. just amazing.
Erin – ekcantcook.blogspot.com
She based it off the recipe for a dip she posted that everyone called crack because it's so good you want more and more….it's just a joke, if you are cooking it for someone and they asked what it's called just say "burgers". Don't take silly things like this to heart!
Steph, these burgers look awesome. I don't quite understand why choose to call recipes "crack". I find it disturbing to equate these wonderful recipes with a drug term.
This is dry or wet ranch?
Autumn – use the dry mix. If you want to use the prepared dressing – substitute it for the mix and sour cream
I love your recipes/pictures, but practically everything you make has Ranch something or other in it..!
If you use a a packet of dry ranch dressing it makes it all much easier to manage on the grill or in the skillet.
Looks delish! Just found your site through pinterest! I made your honey lime chicken tonight. Came out delish! Looking forward to making these next!
Oh hell yeah, the Crack Bread was amazing, and so I KNOW this burger will be even better! My boyfriend loves a good burger, and he's a great griller. I'll make these up and have him grill them. Very soon!!
I have a question. My husband doesn't BBQ so I have refused to do it. Can this be done on the stove or in the oven?
Thanks
Lynn
Absolutely Lynn! Either way will work. Sometimes I sear the burgers on one side and flip them over and finish them off in the oven. Hope you enjoy the burgers!!
That is one great looking burger Steph – we love burgers mixed up with stuff in them.
These look so easy and so yummy!
CRRAAAAACK !!!!
Yum! I cannot wait to try this recipe!
I do this with ground turkey, but use 1 small pkg of Ranch Dressing, plus the cheese! Divine!
oh yeah, I can see how you could get addicted to those
Lea Ann – I love that you are "cracked up" over my crack burgers! LOL!
If it were up to my husband, we would have hamburgers every single night. This means I'm always on the lookout for new hamburger idea's. Thank you so much for sharing this one, it looks delicious!!!
This looks so delicious that it's got me drooling and it isn't even 9AM 🙂
You crack me up with your "crack" recipes. I made your crack potatoes back when and trust me, I pay attention when you indicate a as such. 🙂
