What does Bubble Up mean? Bubble up refers to casseroles made with refrigerated biscuits. They bubble up when they are baked. I’ve made several bubble up casseroles for the blog – pizza, white pizza, and even an enchilada bubble up casserole. They are all fantastic.
How to Make Cracked Out Breakfast Bubble Up
This biscuit breakfast casserole is very easy to make. Start with cutting up a can of refrigerated biscuits. Place them in the bottom of a baking dish. Top the biscuits with cooked bacon and cheese. Whisk together milk, ranch seasoning, and eggs. Pour over the bacon and biscuits and bake. SO easy.
- Feel free to substitute turkey bacon for a lower-calorie option.
- I use two cans of the smaller 5-count (6-oz) cans of biscuits. I did NOT use the bigger Grands! biscuits.
- Here is our recipe for Homemade Ranch Dressing Mix: https://www.plainchicken.com/homemade-ranch-dressing-mix/
- Make sure to spread the biscuits out evenly in the baking dish. You don’t want big clumps of biscuits. It will take longer to cook.
- Can Bubble Up Breakfast Casserole be made in advance? Yes! You can assemble the casserole and refrigerate overnight.
- If I am making this for a weekday breakfast, I will cook the bacon and whisk up the eggs the night before. I store everything in the fridge overnight. I chop the biscuits and assemble the casserole first thing in the morning and bake it. It works out great.
- Can I freeze Bubble Up Breakfast Casserole? Yes! You can freeze the baked casserole and reheat later. To reheat the casserole, thaw completely. Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 350ºF for 30 to 45 minutes.
What does Crack Mean?
If a recipe has crack in the title it means that it has cheddar, bacon, and ranch in the recipe. It all started with my Crack Dip way back in 2007. I made the dip for a Titans football game. Everyone went crazy over it. We couldn’t stop eating it and said it was like crack. The name stuck. The flavor combination is amazing. This casserole is no exception.

Hi! I live in Canada and we don’t have this exact type of biscuit. I was wondering if using one can of 10 “country style” biscuits would work?
I’m not familiar with the product you are referencing, so I can not say.
The taste gets a 5* but the prep time of 10 mins is a joke! It took 20 mins at a minimum to fry the bacon. I suppose you could use pre-cooked bacon, but a pound of that is gonna cost you a lot!
Overall, it took me 45 mins to prep. Boy, it was delicious!
That is a long prep time! You can cook bacon in the oven in 20 minutes. Maybe try that next time? I usually use precooked bacon that I buy at Costco, but to each their own.
Would sausage work instead of the bacon?
You can make it however you wish.
Has anyone tried making this in a crockpot? Does it work out well that way or really the oven is the only way to go for this?
What is meant by “quarter” bisquits? Are they cut from top down or separted into thinner round layers?
cut into FOUR pieces
Cut up in 4 chunk pieces.
Can you pull apart and layer the biscuits? I would like a thinner crust.
there is no crust – the biscuits are tossed into the pan
What do you mean by cutting/chopping up the biscuits? Cutting in halves? Quartering? Recipe sounds great but could go south if biscuits not done properly. Thank you.
You place one biscuit down and cut it in half then in half, for a total of 4 pieces. They fluff up pretty well.
If I only have grands??
Use all but 1 biscuit
My hubby doesn’t like ranch dressing is there a substitute, is there a substitute? Thank you
It is just for seasoning. You will have to ask your husband what he likes…….
Could you use drop biscuits instead of canned. I started using carbquick to make hubby lowcarb biscuits for B&G
I’ve only made the recipe as written, so I can not say. As always, please use your best judgment regarding substitutions and modifications.
You try it using drip biscuits? Was curious if worked ok?
