What does CRACK mean?
If a recipe has “crack” in the title it means that the recipe has cheddar, bacon, and ranch in the ingredients. It all started with my Crack Dip way back in 2007. I made the dip for a Titans football game. Everyone went crazy over it. We couldn’t stop eating it and said it was like crack. The name stuck.
According to the dictionary, the definition of crack is “of superior excellence or ability”. We think the flavor combination of cheddar, bacon, and ranch fits this definition! These Cracked Out Hawaiian Rolls are most definitely of superior excellence!
How to Make Cracked Out Hawaiian Rolls
These buns are super easy to make with only 5 simple ingredients. Cut cheddar cheese slices into 8 pieces. Cut bacon slices into thirds. Separate a package of Hawaiian rolls into individual rolls. Make two cuts just two-thirds of the way down each roll. Do NOT cut all the way through the rolls!
Place one piece of bacon in each slit. Place cheese slices on each side of the bacon. You will use four pieces of cheese in each roll. Place the cut rolls on a baking sheet or baking dish lined with parchment paper. Combine melted butter and ranch dressing mix. Brush the butter mixture over the top of the rolls. Bake for 10 minutes, until the cheese has melted. Brush rolls with any remaining ranch butter.

I made these with a little bit more of a Hawaiian twist. I drained a can of crushed pineapple in its own juice and added a little to each slit along side the bacon and cheese. It really took them up a notch. I tend to like things a little spicy so I placed a small bowl of crushed chipotle peppers on the side to use a spread for those who like a little spice. These are delicious either way you make them!!
