This recipe was inspired by Plain Chicken reader, Suzanne Smith. She emailed me last year and asked if I thought the crack dip would work in tortillas. I told her it would totally work if she swapped the sour cream for cream cheese. She made them and said they flew off the plate at her South Alabama tailgate. I couldn’t wait to try them!
These Cracked Out Turkey Pinwheels are totally addicting. I absolutely LOVE them! Cream cheese, cheddar, bacon, Ranch, and turkey wrapped in a tortilla. How could anyone not love these?!?!?! This homemade version is SO much better than the Costco turkey pinwheels AND a lot cheaper!
How to Make Sandwich Wraps for a Party
These turkey pinwheel sandwiches are super easy to make with only a few simple ingredients. Here is what you need:
- Cream Cheese
- Ranch dressing mix
- Cooked chopped bacon
- Shredded cheddar cheese
- Milk
- Sliced deli turkey
- Flour tortillas
To make the sandwiches, mix together the cream cheese, ranch mix, bacon, and cheese. Add a splash of milk. Add as much as you need to make the mixture spreadable. Spread some of the cream cheese mixture over a tortilla, top with some sliced deli turkey and roll up tightly. Wrap the tortillas in plastic wrap and refrigerate at least 30 minutes and then slice.
- Do NOT make the ranch dressing. Use the seasoning dry.
- I used Boar’s Head Blacked Turkey in these pinwheels. It is my favorite deli turkey. If you aren’t a fan of the blackened turkey, just use your favorite thin-sliced deli turkey.
- Can use low-carb or gluten-free tortillas.
Make-Ahead Turkey Wraps
I make these Cracked Out Turkey Pinwheels all the time and eat them as tortilla sandwiches for lunch or dinner. They are also PERFECT for tailgating and parties. They are super easy to make and will keep for several days in the fridge. Store the assembled tortillas wrapped in plastic wrap until you are ready to serve them. I take them to tailgates still wrapped and slice them when I get to the party.

Just made the cracked out turkey bacon cheddar ranch pinwheels for a retirement potluck. I know they will be a hit!! I have made Italian pinwheels before for 2 occasions, but these are outstanding 👌
Can you freeze leftovers… or how long do they last in refrigerator?
I have never frozen them, so I can not say how they taste after being frozen. In my experience, cream cheese isn’t really the same after freezing.
They will keep in the refrigerator 3 to 5 days.
Went over so Well at my work potluck, I should’ve quadrupled it! I had already doubled it!
These are amazing!!!!! Everyone LOVED them!!!!
Going to try adding green onion into each to add a bit of crunch and flavor
sounds delicious!
Can you use ranch salad dressing instead of the dried mix? Can’t get it where I live. Thank you!
How long will they stay good for in the fridge? I want to have them for lunch on Christmas but am wanting to make them the week before, as it gets really busy in my house before Christmas. Will they stay good for 4 or 5 days in the fridge, or could they go into the freezer?
I have never frozen these tortilla pinwheels, so I can't say how they would be after freezing.
You can make them in advance. I usually keep them about 2 or 3 days. You can absolutely make the filling a week in advance and just roll them up when ready to serve.
Will these get soggy if kept overnight in frig? Making them for work and can prep there but would prefer to make ahead.
They will be just fine overnight in the fridge.
Thanks for sharing your recipe. I am hosting a Football party on sunday Saints vs Cowboys (go Cowboys) and I think my crowd will love these. I am going to try them!!!
Can I make these and serve them warm?
Very good! I think there may be a mistake in you recipe though. 2 tbsps of the cream cheese mixture is no where near enough to cover a 12" shell, and if you only use 2 tbsps each for 4 shells, that will use up not even half of the cream cheese mixture. I doubled up to 4 tbsp per shell and had enough for 5 x 12" shells and it was perfect. Delicious recipe otherwise though!
I made these to pack in my kids' lunches for school and they absolutely LOVED them! I of course had to taste one for myself and oh my, these are so good! They're so easy too. I'm going to have to make them for a party. The kids have already requested them again this week. One small change, I used almost the whole packet of ranch seasoning mix. We like our ranch flavor strong. I suggest you add it like the recipe suggests, then taste and add more if you see fit.
So good! I also shredded some carrot into the cream cheese mixture to give it crunch.
How do you keep the tortillas from drying out?
Keep them stored in an air-tight container before serving.
How many carbs are in the pinwheels per serving?
HOW MANY WILL THIS FED?
About how many does it make?
I took the leftover turkey breast meat threw it in the food processor, with celery, onion, rainbow carrots, honey mustard and Aldi brand salad dressing aka Miracle Whip and made a spread. Then I said now what? It tasted great but after receiving your ideas in my inbox this morning, I'll add some cream cheese and some cheddar and bacon to it and make pinwheels. So thank you very much!!!
I'm creating a round-up for easy lunchbox ideas for kids. Can I add your recipe. I'd be sure to give a link back to your recipe and credit you for it.
Will be making these for my New Years Eve party with my family this year. They look and sound AMAZING! Might have to make a practice run during Christmas movies in about 3 weeks. Thanks. I think i'll try some deli ham also minus the bacon. Make 2 one ham roll and one turkey roll. Maybe some deli chicken also. Thanks for the inspiration on different kinds to make.
Would big rolls freeze well before slicing?

made this yesterday. everyone loved them. doubled all the ingredients except the bacon bits.
Could these be heated to give the shell a small crunch?
I made these for Christmas eve. They were a a HUGE hit! Making them tomorrow with ham.
Do you think canned chicken would taste good? Instead of the turkey.
Thanks
Is that ranch dips mix or ranch dressing seasoning mix?
either one is fine

How long will these keep in the fridge? If I make will they be ok in the fridge for two days?
They will be fine for two days. Enjoy!
I made this with leftover turkey breast (@ 3 to 4 cups), left out ranch and milk, added 2 tbsp mayo, used pepper jack cheese and Tony's Zachary to taste, and used 8 slices crumbled bacon since I didn't have bits and served it with crackers …IT WAS AWESOME!!! TURKEY BACON CHEESEBALL…YAY
should I add the milk to the cheese mixture?
yes – I'll correct the instructions.
Omg'sh! I bet these are amazing! I may make them tomorrow night for a party. Thanks!
