July is National Hot Dog month! You must celebrate with these AMAZING Grilled Hot Dogs! OMG! SO good!! This was the first time that I marinated hot dogs, and I will never grill a naked dog again! The marinade adds so much flavor. It really makes all the difference. Chicken Legs doesn’t even like hot dogs, and he asked me to make these again this weekend. They must be good!
The hot dogs only need to marinate a few minutes before going on the grill. I loved how the hot dogs looked with the little cuts in them. These are perfect for Memorial Day cookouts, Labor Day picnics, and tailgates in the Fall.
How to Make Marinated Hot Dogs on the Grill
This recipe is super easy to make with only a few simple ingredients. With a knife, make small slits at an angle in 2 rows down each hot dog, about ½ inch apart, cutting partway into the hot dog. The cuts should look like rounded half circles.
In a small bowl, whisk together ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, and vegetable oil. Place hot dogs in a ziplock bag. Pour the marinade over the hot dogs and refrigerate for 15 to 20 minutes. When ready to cook the hot dogs, prepare the grill. Remove the hot dogs from the marinade and cook over direct heat for 3 to 5 minutes. Serve the hot dogs in buns with your favorite condiments.

Can I marinate these all night or will they be to salty
I think that would be just fine.
There are 4 Hot Dog brands that is our go to dog. Sabrett, Hofman’s, Shalene’s and Nathens.. All 4 of these are made in NY State. If I could find them. I would also add Chicago’s Vienna style hot dogs.
I never want to eat hot dogs any other way now! These are the best! I don’t eat sugar, so I used Heinz no-sugar added ketchup and also added a little stevia to the sauce.
This makes the best hotdogs. I use this receipt every time I make hotdogs.
Perfect for summer. My husband love this.
You said two rows of slits……so, opposite side of the round hot dog? I only see one row of slits on the dogs.
Yes – the other set of slits is face down the grill.
We can't find a hot dog that we like since Oscar Mayer changed their beef franks a few years ago. Anyone have a suggestion for a good hot dog to try? I hate to go a buy a bunch of different brands and waste them. Thanks!
Nathans for sure!
Hi. 😀 When I was growing up mom use to make us stuffed piggies that are just like your crescent dogs without the crescent. Well almost the same. We add slices of gerkins pickles to ours. Slice the dog and lay slices of the sweet pickles and cheese in the slot. Wrap in bacon and bake. These are seriously good but I'm going to take it to the next level and try them with the crescents next time I make them. 😀
I don’t have a grill and would like to know if these marinated hot dogs would work in the oven?
You can cook the hotdogs any way you prefer.
How do you get 8 hotdogs out of a Hebrew National package? They only pack 7 to a package.
lol!….. YOU DON'T!!… I was going to ask if they went large buying 2 packs of HN just to fill 8 buns. I called ConAgra about this very thing and was told in response to the 7 pack quirk "Great Question" (felt as though I had mistakenly called into the Nancy Grace show) … the person flipped through a few pages of canned pr responses and gave this answer.. the packaging like was set up for 7 hotdogs, not eight. It is nothing more than a marketing ploy rip-off. Nothing mystical about it. I see Parks Best is running the same scam. Next thing that will happen is that the bread mfgs. will start turning out 6 pack buns.
Oh My I will have to have a bbq party just to get these hot dogs.
That corn dog maker is so cool. Does it taste the same without the deep frying? I love corn dogs but hate messing with the hot oil all the time.
1st – all of them look tasty
2nd – how am I gonna eat one of each while on a diet, cause you know I'd have to taste them all
A corn dog maker….never heard of one.
I love how those grilled hotdogs look with the slits. Will have to try that next time. Actually I want to try every one of these recipes.
What an awesome post – we love hot dogs, and I've never thought about kicking them up. 😉 I want to try them all!
Im in Hot Dog heaven! They all sound amazing. I've never heard of marinating hot dogs either. Oh I've got to try it!!
You are putting out some great looking food and we are having your Mexican chicken tonight for dinner.
