This is made with my new favorite ingredient – French Onion Dip. I love to use Kraft brand, but you can use your favorite brand of French Onion Dip. Like our other Bubble Up recipes, this only takes a few minutes to make. It is ready to eat in 30 minutes. Make sure to buy the smaller Grands Jr biscuits. There are 10 biscuits in the can. If you use the bigger Grands! biscuits the casserole won’t cook through. Also, make sure to spread the biscuits around in the pan so they aren’t all clumped together. This will ensure the biscuits bake and aren’t doughy when you pull it out of the oven.

French Onion Chicken Bubble Up
Ingredients:
- 2 cups cooked chopped chicken
- 1 (10.5-oz) can Cream of Chicken Soup
- 1 cup refrigerated sour cream French Onion Dip
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 (12-oz) can refrigerated Grands Jr biscuits (10 count)
- ¼ cup French Fried Onions
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350ºF. Lightly spray a 9×13-inch pan with cooking spray.
- Combine chicken, soup, dip, and cheese. Cut each biscuit into 4 pieces. Toss with chicken mixture.
- Pour chicken mixture into prepared pan. Top with French fried onions.
- Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes, until bubbly and biscuits are golden brown.

I made this a few weeks ago for company and I had to cook it an additional 10 or so minutes, everyone loved it with a side Ceasars salad. I just finished making it again but I was only making it for myself. I basically halved the recipe and since I didn’t have cheese in the house I skipped that but I added some frozen peas. Normally I don’t leave reviews, but with this I have too. Now long story short I forgot to buy the cream of chicken, I was not a happy camper. So I used what I had which was cream of Celery. It turned out AMAZING!!!! With a picky 13 yr old he loved it, along with my fiance and I. Will definitely make again and will not forget the cream of chicken. Even though the cream of Celery it tasted amazing, we can’t imagine how amazing it will taste with the cream of chicken. Will most definitely keep this in my recipe book and make again and again. Thank you!!
I just came across this recipe and it looks delicious. My questions is can vegetables be added to this recipe ( broccoli), if so would the amount of soup or dip need to be increased.

Great Recipe! We will be making this on a regular basis. I added a drained can of French cut green beans per someone’s suggestion and pressed the biscuit pieces into the mix. Leftovers the next day were wonderful.
Do the biscuits go on top of everything except the French fried onions or on the bottom

I don’t see why not. Just make sure to space the dough out so it cooks evenly.
We love this recipe and have made it several times. I’m modifying it to make it creamier, because the biscuits soak up a lot of the liquid in the recipe: 2 cups dip, 2 cups shredded cheddar (which is only 8 oz by volume). I’m adding spinach leaves with about five minutes left to bake to get a vegetable in there, and I think it will taste great, and putting green onions and parsley on top for garnish. I think it will be excellent.

I made this but couldn’t find Jr Grands so I used 6 of the regular Grands Biscuits from a 16 oz package and cut them into 8 pieces (I hadn’t read the comments ahead of time). The flavor was good but the biscuits didn’t cook and were just pieces of mushy raw dough. I know the French Fried Onions will burn if baked too long, so next time could I back for 30 minutes then add the French Fried Onions and bake 15 more minutes?

Can you substitute the French onion dip for something else? They don’t sell it in my area.
Sour cream with some onion flakes or onion powder. If you can find Onion Soup Mix, maybe a tablespoon or 2 mixed in the sour cream.

Yes – cut them into 6 pieces and use all but one of the biscuits.

If anyone is having trouble with the biscuits not cooking, try it at 375 degrees F for 30 mins. There’s a very similar casserole that I make like this and it comes out perfect for me at that temp and time.
I'm doing weight watchers but I love food to taste good. This was terrific. It is teenager approved which is a miracle. I used low fat soup and cheese and it was 12 points for each serving if the serving were 8. I would totally make this again.
Found this recipe on Pinterest and made it tonight – delicious! I have always had issues with the biscuits not cooking all the way through in similar recipes. I have a new oven and decided to use the convection to see if that would help. Cooked for 20 minutes on 350 and the biscuits were perfectly cooked through! Thanks for the yummy!

I would freeze it after baking.
My momma raised me to not waste food… I just can't throw that extra grand biscuit away, so I'm going to bake it in an 11×14 pan instead and use them all. I'll let you know how it turns out 🙂
You could also just use a can of Grands Jr as called for in the recipe. No waste.
I am preparing to make this for dinner tonight. I, also, only have a can of the larger Grand's but it is 12 ounces. That is the amount specified in the recipe. So, I am going to use them all. I also lack cream of chicken soup,so I will use cream of mushroom and stir in some chicken base.

I believe Pillsbury dropped the Jr from the name. If the can is 12-oz, that is what I used.

You can use regular Grands biscuits – only use 7 of the biscuits and cut each of them into 6 pieces
For the French Onion Dip, does it matter if it's cream cheese based or sour cream based? Does one work better than the other?
I only use the sour cream based refrigerated French Onion Dip

Be care because some french onion dip have gluten in them. I know Lipton Onion Soup Mix does.

Ooooo, girl!! I DID stop what I was doing yesterday, and made this for supper last night! I had everything but the dip, so I stopped at our local gas station to get some (unrefrigerated). That 9×13 pan was gone in 20 minutes! I have never written a "review", but I stopped my busy day to let you know, Stephanie, that this was AWESOME! My kids told me to make more next time. I've made your French Onion based recipes a few times and they are always a hit. However, because we have several vegetarians in our family I have made these several times without chicken and served them as a side dish and they are still a big hit. My one "trick" is that instead of using the pre-made French Onion Dip I get a package of the Trader Joe's Onion Dip (better than Lipton!) and mix that with Daisy sour cream the night before and use that in place of the french onion dip. Just as flavorful but with less ingredients that I cannot pronounce. My husband loves this as the noodle casserole with chicken and my vegetarian family loves it as a main dish with a side salad. I bet they will love this version using biscuits!

If you need the WW SmartPoints, I can tell you that 6 servings, if you lighten this up is 9 SP. I used Costco rotisserie chicken breast, 16 ounces, 2% cheddar, low fat french onion dip and the Campbells Healthy Request soup. The Pillsbury 10 count, 7.5 can of biscuits cut into 4ths ought to be enough. Does that help or do you need the full nutritional counts as run through My Fitness Pal? I can do the work for you if that is too difficult. I am good at it. Let me know.
