How to Make Frozen Key Lime Pie

This pie is easy to make with only four simple ingredients. In the bowl of an electric mixer, whip heavy cream on high speed until stiff peaks form. Gently fold in sweetened condensed milk, key lime zest, and key lime juice. Spread the key lime mixture into a prepared graham cracker crust. Cover the pie with plastic wrap and place in the freezer. Freeze until firm, about 6 hours. Remove the frozen pie from the freezer about 15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Helpful Tips & Frequently Asked Questions

  • You can find key limes in the produce section of the grocery store and Walmart.
  • I used fresh key limes. If you can find key limes, you can use a bottle of Real Key West Lime Juice or regular limes/lime juice. Either will be fine.
  • If you don’t have a stand mixer, you can make the whipped cream in a large bowl with a hand held mixer.
  • I also used a store bought graham cracker crust. It works great in this recipe. If you don’t like the store bought crusts, you can definitely make your own crust.
    • To make you homemade crust, in a medium bowl combine 1½ cups graham cracker crumbs, 6 Tablespoons of melted butter, and 5 Tablespoons of sugar. Press mixture into the bottom and sides of a 9-inch pie plate.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the freezer.
    • Cover the pie with plastic wrap and place in a freezer bag to avoid freezer burns.

How to Serve Key Lime Pie

The pie turned out fantastic! Don’t worry about cutting the pie – it comes right out of the pan after it is frozen. Perfect slices every time. I like to run my knife under hot water before slicing – it makes it a little easier to cut when it is frozen. Top the pie with a little dollop of whipped cream and key lime slices. This is the best way to cool off on hot summer days.

  1. This sounds like the pie that Montego Bay in Panama City Beach has. I've always loved theirs and wondered what the recipe for it was.
