We were in the grocery store a few weeks ago, and I saw a box of Funnel Cake Corn Dogs in the freezer section. Now, I’m not going to lie. I love a good corn dog, and the Funnel Cake Corn Dogs totally intrigued me. I had to try my hand at a homemade version for tailgating and watching football.

Let me tell you, these are delicious!! Each bite is like a thrilling carnival ride for your taste buds. The magic begins with that crispy funnel cake exterior – it’s golden, slightly sweet, and oh-so satisfying. And when you sink your teeth into it, you discover a world of flavor waiting inside, thanks to the juicy little smokies. They are impossible to resist!

How to Make Mini Corn Dogs

This dish is super easy to make with only a few simple ingredients. In a large bowl, stir together funnel cake mix and water as directed on the package. Pour canola oil into a large skillet or Dutch oven to a depth of two inches. Heat oil to 350 degrees. 

Remove little smokies from the package. Roll little smokies in flour. Dip the sausages into the prepared funnel cake batter. Shake off excess batter and place in the hot oil. Fry for 2 to 3 minutes, until golden brown. Drain off the excess oil on paper towels. Repeat until all little smokies are battered and fried. Sprinkle funnel dogs with powdered sugar or salt, if desired.

  • 1 (8 to 11.1-oz) box Funnel Cake mix
  • 2 (14-oz) packages Lit'l Smokies
  • cup all-purpose flour
  • canola/vegetable oil

Instructions:

  • Pour oil into skillet or Dutch oven to a depth of two inches. Heat oil to 350 degrees.
