How to Make Greek Chicken Marinade

This chicken marinade is effortless to make with only three simple ingredients. Place chicken in a ziploc plastic bag. In a medium bowl, whisk together Greek salad dressing, lemon juice, and honey. Pour Greek marinade over the chicken and seal the bag. Place the chicken in the refrigerator and marinate for a few hours up to overnight. When ready to cook the chicken, remove the chicken from the marinade. Place the chicken on a plate and discard leftover marinade. Prepare the gas grill or charcoal grill. Cook the chicken over medium-high heat until it reaches an internal temperature of 165ºF. The grill time will depend on the size, cut, and thickness of your chicken pieces.

Helpful Tips & Frequently Asked Questions

  • I use Ken’s Steakhouse Greek Dressing or Kraft Greek Dressing.
  • Free free to add fresh herbs to the marinade.
  • You can use this marinade on any cut of chicken – breasts, tenders, thighs, wings, or drumsticks/legs.
  • You can use boneless or bone-in chicken. Adjust the cooking time to ensure an internal temperature of 165ºF.
  • Sometimes I like to cut the chicken into pieces and make Greek chicken kabobs with red onion and bell peppers.
  • For best results, pound chicken to an even thickness. We put the chicken in a ziploc bag and use a flat meat mallet to carefully pound out the hump. This ensures that the chicken cooks evenly and you don’t have juicy chicken and half-dry chicken.
  • We cook the chicken on a charcoal grill. Here are our tips on cooking on charcoal: https://www.plainchicken.com/grilling-101-how-to-use-charcoal-starter/
  • I don’t have an outdoor grill. Can I cook the chicken in the oven or skillet? Yes! To cook the chicken breasts inside, pan sear it for 3 to 4 minutes per side. Place on a rimmed baking sheet. Bake at 400ºF for 10 minutes.
    • You can use a cast iron skillet an indoor grill pan.
  • Store leftover chicken in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
