Easy Sautéed Asparagus

This Honey Garlic Asparagus recipe has quickly become one of our favorite side dishes. SO simple to make yet SO delicious! The flavors are inspired by our favorite Honey Garlic Pork Tenderloin recipe. The flavor combination is fabulous on pork, so I wanted to give it a try on asparagus. So how is it? Ridiculously good!

Super simple with only 6 ingredients – butter, fresh asparagus, honey, soy sauce, garlic, and red pepper flakes. Ready to eat in about 15 minutes. A little sweet, a little spicy, and a whole lot of YUM! We make this asparagus almost once a week. We just can’t get enough of it. Make this tonight! You will not regret it!

How to Make Honey Garlic Asparugus

This recipe is effortless to make with only a few simple ingredients. Trim the woody ends off of the asparagus spears. Melt butter in a skillet and add the trimmed asparagus. Cook until the spears start to blister. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, minced garlic cloves, honey, and red pepper flakes. Add the honey mixture to the skillet and cook on medium-low heat. Season with salt and black pepper, if desired, and serve. Easy peasy!!

  • Make sure to trim the woody ends of the asparagus spears. The thick bottom part of the spear is white or light purple in color. It is tough and not meant to be eaten. Use a knife to quickly cut the tough ends off before adding the spears to the baking dish.
  • I kept the asparagus spears whole. Feel free to chop the asparagus into bite-sized pieces if you prefer.
  • I use fresh minced garlic cloves. Feel free to use jarred minced garlic or even garlic powder.
  • Can add ginger to the sauce if you would like.
  • Feel free to add some protein to the skillet to make this a main dish. Shrimp, chicken, and/or fresh mushrooms all work great.
  • Can I make Honey Garlic Asparagus in the oven? Yes! Place asparagus on a foil-lined rimmed baking sheet or baking dish. Whisk together the sauce and pour over asparagus. Bake until the asparagus is tender.
  • We didn’t think the asparagus was spicy. Feel free to adjust the red pepper flakes to your personal preference. You can omit them if you wish.
  • Use a gluten-free soy sauce for a gluten-free side dish.
