Hot Ham and Cheese Sandwiches

Hot Ham and Cheese Sandwiches Recipe

Hot Ham and Cheese Sandwiches Recipe from The Dairy Good Cookbook. Baked Ham and Cheese sandwiches with a savory butter sauce spread on the buns – butter, onion, dijon mustard, toasted sesame seeds and Worcestershire sauce. It reminded me of our favorite Party Ham Rolls, but with the yummy sauce on the inside of the sandwich instead of on top. The sandwiches tasted SOOO good. Seriously delicious. We will never eat another Hot Ham and Cheese Sandwich.

I have a new favorite cookbook; the new The Dairy Good Cookbook. Dairy farmers created and inspired the recipes throughout the book. Many of the recipes talk about its history and recount memories of enjoying the food. The book includes beautiful on-the-farm photos, profiles on the dairy farmers, and profiles on the six major dairy cow breeds. Dairy remains a community-based business, and dairy farmers are among the original environmentalists. Their commitment to their cows, the land, and other natural resources is rooted in doing the right thing for their animals, their families, and their businesses.
I started flipping through the cookbook as soon as I received it and ended up bookmarking tons of the recipes.  The Dairy Good Cookbook features more than 100 recipes that showcase the unique tastes and versatility of dairy, from cheese and yogurt to milk and butter. I probably bookmarked 75 of them for us to try. If you follow the blog, you know that I am a HUGE fan of dairy products, especially cheese! I’ve been known to sneak a few bites right out of the bag of shredded cheese while preparing dinner. I love cooking with milk, cheese and yogurt. All of our favorite recipes include some type of dairy. I cannot wait to cook my way through this cookbook!
These Hot Ham and Cheese Sandwiches immediately caught my eye. I loved the savory butter spread slathered on the buns. The butter spread is made with butter, onion, Dijon mustard, toasted sesame seeds and Worcestershire sauce. It reminded me of our favorite Party Ham Rolls, but with the yummy sauce on the inside of the sandwich instead of on top. The sandwiches tasted SOOO good. Seriously delicious. We will never eat another Hot Ham and Cheese Sandwich. This is now the “go-to” recipe! I absolutely loved that the sandwiches could be made ahead of time and refrigerated until I was ready to bake them. Perfect for summer parties and tailgating this Fall!

Place on Stoneware Baking Sheet. Add a pat of butter to the top of each breast and bake at 350 until cooked through. SO GOOD!!!
