Boiled peanuts are a must during football season. Chicken Legs LOVES boiled peanuts, so we make them all season long. I usually make them in the slow cooker, but I decided to give them a try in the Instant Pot. OMG! SO easy! They cook in less than an hour. Perfect for a last-minute tailgating snack.

Make sure to buy RAW peanuts. I find them at the grocery store in the produce section. Chicken Legs likes his boiled peanuts seasoned with cajun seasoning. I use my homemade cajun/creole seasoning and add extra salt. Boiled peanuts need the salt. You can also use store-bought cajun seasoning. I like Tony Chachere’s brand. I’ve also seasoned the peanuts with Old Bay some jalapenos, or a handful of salt. They are delicious!! I’ve even heard of people using smoked meat and neck bones in their boiled peanuts. Interesting!

This makes a lot of boiled peanuts. You can store any leftover boiled peanuts in the fridge. We like to reheat them in the microwave before digging in again. The leftovers will keep about 10 days.

  1. Hey.. I’m looking forward to trying these but I have a question. If using a store bought cajun seasoning like Tony’s, which is super salty, do you still add the additional salt in the recipe or would you lower it a bit? Thanks 🙂

    1. That is up to you. Since you asked the question, I would say no. You can also look for salt-free Tony’s.

  2. Make sure you use fresh green peanuts and not dried peanuts. Green peanuts are leaps and bounds better than dried. I am from SC and boiled peanuts are a huge thing here :)I make boiled peanuts several times a week during the summer. We LOVE them!!
