I am in LOVE with these Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs! Hard-boiled eggs are easy to make on the stovetop, but I can NEVER get the shells to come off easily when I hard boil eggs. I end up pulling off too much of the white part and have ugly eggs. Well, the Instant Pot changed everything for me! The eggs are so easy to make the shells practically fall off when you peel them. You get perfectly cooked and peeled hard-boiled eggs every single time!! This might be my favorite use of the Instant Pot. Perfect for deviled eggs and all your upcoming Easter egg dying.
How to Hard Boil Eggs in the Instant Pot
These eggs are effortless to make in the electric pressure cooker. Place a steamer basket, trivet, or egg rack in the bottom of the instant pot. Place eggs on top of the ack. Pour cold water into the cooking insert. Close the lid on the pressure cooker and make sure the steam valve is set to the “sealed” position. Cook on manual or high pressure for 5 minutes. Set a timer and let the steam natural release for 5 minutes. Open the steamer valve and do a quick pressure release for any remaining pressure. Remove the eggs and place them in an ice bath. Carefully crack eggshells on a hard surface and peel eggs. Place the eggs in an airtight container and store them in the fridge.
- I use large eggs.
- What is an ice water bath? It is simply a bowl of ice water.
- Recipes may indicate to use the Manual Setting or Pressure Cook Program. These terms mean the same thing.
- The Instant Pot takes about 10 to 15 minutes to come to pressure and start cooking. This recipe has a 5 minute cook time, but it the total time to make these eggs is about 20 minutes.

Do you have to peel them immediately? I’m thinking at Easter when we want to dye hard boiled eggs
they would be perfect for dying Easter eggs
If you'd like to make more than six eggs at a time do you need to adjust anything, like water or timing?(I am one of those who has a little fear of my Instant Pot)
You can easily do a dozen. You can cook them directly out of the fridge if you like. Stack them on your rack in the pot. Add one cup water and cook on manual for 8 minutes. Do a quick release of the pressure when cooking is done and transfer eggs to an ice bath for 7 minutes. Peel immediately under slowly running water. Shells almost fly off! Best hard-boiled eggs on the planet! Twenty minutes! 5 minutes for the pot to come to pressure, 8 minutes cooking time and 7 minutes in the ice bath.Fear not the pot. You can get hundreds of great recipes for it on Pinterest. Have fun!
