I decided to mix up pizza night and try this Lasagna Flatbread. I’ve had this recipe in mind for a while, but I never got around to making it. I could kick myself! It was SO good!!
This was kind of like an open-faced calzone. We both loved it. I used sausage and part of a jar of marinara for the meat sauce. Feel free to use hamburger instead of sausage. You can also use more or less meat and sauce depending on how meaty and saucy you want the lasagna. This recipe is going in our regular dinner rotation. Give this a try next time you want lasagna without all the work!
Lasagna Flatbread
(Printable Recipe)
- 15 oz ricotta cheese (can use cottage cheese)
- 8 oz shredded mozzarella, divided
- 3 oz parmesan cheese
- 2 tsp Italian Seasoning
- 1 egg
- 1 lb sausage or hamburger
- ½ (26oz) jar marinara sauce
- 6 flatbreads
Preheat oven to 375.
Combine ricotta, ½ of the mozzarella, parmesan, Italian seasoning and egg. Set aside.
In a large skillet, cook sausage or hamburger until it is no longer pink. Drain off fat. Stir in marinara sauce (use as more or less depending on how saucy you want this). Set aside.
Assemble the flatbreads. Spread ⅙ of the cheese mixture on top of flatbread. Top with ⅙ of meat sauce and sprinkle with ⅙ of remaining mozzarella cheese. Repeat for remaining flatbreads.
Bake for 10-15 minutes, until cheese is melted on top.
OMG this looks great, Steph!
So I really wanted to comment about the post below (the peanut butter eclair cake) but I couldn't find the link for some reason! But oh. my. gosh. I love eclair cake and peanut butter is pretty much my favorite food, so it is getting bookmarked right now!
Also- War Eagle! š
This does look good, and so easy. Got to try it soon.
Ok…. I'm having trouble leaving your blog!! I can't tell you how much my kids will love this and with back to school tomorrow I'm going to love the ease of putting it together!
What a great idea for pizza/lasagna. Super family friendly!
I just found your blog, and I know I've met a kindred spirit. Anyone who posts weekly pictures of their beautiful orange kitties wins my heart! And frankly, this flatbread lasagna knocks right at the door of my heart, too. I'm excited to explore the rest of your blog. Happy Friday, Meow!
Oooh, this sounds amazing – and so easy!!
Thanks Steph!! š
Carla – I use toufayan flatbread. I find them in the bakery/deli section of the grocery store.
I have all that needing to be made into one of those at home.
A great idea for pizza. Must try this soon.
Looks absolutely delicious! Do you remember what brand of Flatbread you used? Yours looks much more 'fluffy' than the ones I get. Thanks so much! (love your site!)
