How to Make Melt in Your Mouth Crack Chicken

This melt in your mouth chicken recipe is effortless to make with only 5 simple ingredients. Season chicken breasts with seasoning salt and black pepper, if desired. Place chicken breasts on a foil-lined baking sheet or baking dish. In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise with sharp cheddar cheese, ranch dressing mix, and cooked chopped bacon. Spread the mayonnaise mixture on top of the chicken breasts and bake in the oven until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165ºF.

Tips for Making Melt in Your Mouth Crack Chicken

  • I used boneless skinless chicken breasts. You can use any chicken pieces that you enjoy. Boneless chicken tenderloins or chicken thighs will both work great. Use a meat thermometer to check for an internal temperature of 165ºF.

  • Store-bought ranch can be salty and high in sodium. Please adjust in the amount in the recipe to your personal preference.

  • The mayonnaise in this recipe adds moisture to your chicken. If you don’t like mayonnaise or looking are for a healthier option, you can substitute Greek yogurt or sour cream.
  • While crack chicken always uses cheddar cheese, you can use any cheese that you prefer in this recipe. Parmesan cheese, gouda, asiago would all be delicious.
  • Can Melt in Your Mouth Crack Chicken be made in advance? Yes! You can assemble the dish ahead of time and bake it when you are ready.
  • Is Mayonnaise Baked Chicken gluten-free? Yes! All of the ingredients in this recipe are gluten-free.
  • I prefer to use freshly grated cheese in this dish. I find that it melts better than the cheese from a bag.

If a recipe has crack in the title it means that it has cheddar, bacon, and ranch in the recipe. It all started with my Crack Dip way back in 2007. I made the dip for a Titans football game. Everyone went crazy over it. We couldn’t stop eating it and said it was like crack. The name stuck. The flavor combination is amazing. This chicken is no exception.

What to Serve with Hellman’s Mayonnaise Chicken

Traditionally, Melt in Your Mouth Chicken is made with mayonnaise, grated parmesan cheese, and garlic powder. While the parmesan chicken is delicious, I’ll take this cracked out version over it any day of the week. This version has been on repeat at our house. One bite and you will know why. SO much amazing flavor!

If you are making this as a low-carb/keto-friendly dish serve this with a salad, some baked squash, or asparagus. If you are just making this chicken because it is an easy delicious meal serve it with some rice and teriyaki broccoli. Whatever you serve this with it will be delicious!

  • Preheat oven to 375ºF.
  • Place chicken on a rimmed baking sheet or in a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • In a medium bowl, mix together mayonnaise, cheddar cheese, chopped bacon, and ranch seasoning. Spread mayonnaise mixture evenly on top of chicken.

  1. We really like the mayo / parmesan mixture topped with Italian breadcrumbs when we make chicken breasts in the oven. Decided to try this recipe. It was a hit! We will definitely make it again. I used “real” bacon bits out of a package for the cut-up bacon pieces because that is what I had at the house. Next time I might cook up some bacon and chop up myself.     1. Based on what she said about using any cut that you like, as long as they’ve been thawed out, you should be fine using tenderloins for this.
