Last Thursday my heart shattered into a million pieces. My sweet Sherbert went to heaven. We found out the week before that she had kidney failure. She was in the hospital and improving, but she couldn’t go on any longer. She was ready to go see Marmalade and her sister, Pumpkin.
We adopted Sherbert and her sister, Pumpkin, in the Fall of 2000. They had been abandoned on the side of the interstate. Someone brought them to the vets office and Chicken Legs insisted we adopt them.
Sherbert had lots of nicknames, as most pets do. Bert, Bertie Bert, Sherbie, Turbo, Turbo Sherbo, Turbie, Bertie B, Sweet B, Sweet Pea, B B, just to name a few.
She loved to sit in my lap. She purred so loud. She was a little purr-colator.
She didn’t like to be held. She turned into the tasmanian devil if you attempted to pick her up.
She was fast as lightning. Hence the nickname, Turbo.
She loved to roll around on the rugs. She loved burlap – went absolutely crazy rubbing all over it.
She always got in my overnight bag when I was packing.
She would stand up to check things out.
She LOVED to get in drawers.
She could jump from the floor to the top of Chicken Legs’ dresser – about 5 feet.
She loved to sit in boxes.
She spent most of her days during the winter in front of the heater.
Her favorite human food was ham and cheez-its. I left my ham sandwich unattended one day and she stole the ham out of it and ate it! I had to start making a plate of ham for her at lunch.
Sherbert was always special to me. She went through a lot in her short life and was a tough little cookie.
I had almost 14 wonderful years with Sherbert. She was my everything. I loved her more than anything in this world.
It will be strange going into the bedroom and not seeing her sleeping on the bed. I will miss her meowing at me, sleeping by my side and petting her.
She has only been gone a few days, but we all miss her tremendously.

Steph, I'm so sorry to hear you've lost your precious Sherbert. We've lost a number of our cats through the years and it never gets any easier. They each have their own special personalities and those that have never had a cat can't even begin to understand how special they are. Hugs to you and your family.

So sorry for your loss. Have 3 myself & am so glad you had so much time with her. Beautiful way to remember her as your pictures seem to've really captured her personality the way you describe it.

My heart beaks for you. My Jingo went to heaven last summer and I still miss her so much.
Oh, cute Sherbert, my heart also broken..But she had a so good life, their life is short anyway, so she had a really good life which many other cats would like to live. You called them Sherbert, it reminds me of serbet (turkish word) which means a very sweet drink and anything which is very sweet. I feel for the others' cats as I feel for mine.
I am so sorry for your loss. We lost our sweet girl a little over a year ago, so I know how difficult it is.
You don't know me, but I've been receiving your Meow Mondays for several months now. I love cats too and have been enjoying all the pics you post each week. I just wanted to tell you how sorry I am to hear about Sherbert passing. It's never ever easy to lose a part of your family. Thank you for sharing her with us.

Oh Steph, I love your meow monday pics of your fur children. I have four kitties and I know the loss of one would be devastating to all. I will say a prayer for you and chicken legs, and your little ones. You have a lot of followers who consider you a friend even though we have never met you. Please know lots of people are sad for you today, and send you love and best wishes.

My heart breaks with you, Steph. I have been a cat lover all of my life and I still mourn the loss of many! The loss makes another hole in your heart and one day you will meet them all on the "rainbow bridge".
