Easy Italian Appetizer Recipe

Stop what you are doing and add these Oven Toasted Ravioli to your menu ASAP! This is one of my all-time favorite recipes. I could eat the whole batch by myself. Cheese ravioli coated in bread crumbs and parmesan cheese and baked. Dip them in some warm spaghetti sauce and prepare to be wowed! Super simple and SUPER delicious!

How to Make Oven Toasted Ravioli

This recipe is very easy to make. Whisk together egg and milk in a shallow bowl.  In another bowl or pie plate, combine bread crumbs and parmesan cheese.  Dip ravioli in egg and then in bread crumbs.  Place on a baking sheet.  Repeat until all ravioli are coated.  Spray ravioli with cooking spray and bake.

  • Can use frozen or refrigerated ravioli.
  • There is no need to precook the ravioli before baking.
  • You can use any type of ravioli that you enjoy. I usually use cheese ravioli.
  • I use store-bought Italian bread crumbs. You can also use panko bread crumbs with some Italian seasoning mixed in.
  • You can use freshly grated parmesan cheese or the parmesan cheese in the green can. I do not recommend shredded parmesan cheese. You want the cheese to have more of a powder/bread crumb consistency.
  • Can I make Oven Toasted Ravioli in the air fryer? Yes! Coat the ravioli and place in a single layer in the air fryer. Cook at 350ºF for 7 to 9 minutes.
  • Can Oven Toasted Ravioli be frozen? Yes! You can coat the ravioli and place them on a baking sheet. Place the baking sheet in the oven and freeze. Transfer the frozen ravioli to a freezer bag. You can bake the ravioli frozen and add a few minutes to the cooking time.

  1. I just found this recipe via pinterest and you pretty much just made my entire day. Thank you for posting.

  2. Sremmert3 – you can thaw them overnight, but they only took about 20-30 minutes for me. It is ok for them to be a little frozen – they thaw quickly in the oven b

  4. Jennifer – you could bake them and then just reheat them a few minutes in the oven when you got to your celebration.

  5. any idea if these will travel? I thought of making the mini ravioli's as an appy for Thanksgiving. Have to drive about 30 min. If I bake them can they be reheated?

  6. Thanks Steph,
I am serving them next Tuesday with home made pesto and marinara sauce for dippers.
Will let ya know how they turn out.

  7. kathy – that is a great idea. You wouldn't need to thaw them before you baked them. Just add a minute or two to the baking time and you will be fine!

  8. Hey Steph,

I have prepared these using fresh Ravioli and froze them. I'm wondering if you have ever done that and whether or not you defrosted before baking them.
    Thanks,
    Kathy

  9. Can't wait to try these! So just to confirm so I don't screw it up – you do NOT have to boil them fist? Just bake them uncooked and the pasta will be soft enough? Thanks for this recipe. 🙂

    1. JenSam – you don't boil the pasta first. Just dip them in the egg and breadcrumbs and bake them. They do get soft and tasty

  10. I pinned this recipe a few weeks ago and decided to make them tonight. I used mini round ravioli, instead, to make them more appealing to my sons, and they we all loved them! What a great idea! Thank you 🙂
