Pin This RecipeNew favorite alert! These Party Roast Beef Sandwiches are AMAZING! I absolutely love every single thing about these sandwiches! I love a good roast beef sandwich and these roast beef sandwiches are THE BEST. The meat, melty cheese and the sweet and savory sauce on top – perfection!
The key to these sandwiches is using white American cheese. It melts perfectly. You just can’t get other cheeses to melt like American cheese. The sauce has a little kick from some creamy horseradish. SO good.
These are perfect for a party. They also reheat beautifully. We had these for lunch two days in a row. I wrapped the leftovers in foil and reheated them for a few minutes in the oven. Just as good as the first time we ate them. I LOVE these sandwiches. Make them for a quick lunch, dinner or tailgate! You won’t regret it!

Im making these today for Saturday football. I m making to the recipe because it sounds so great! Im using steak sums, deli was out of roast beef (imagine that) I love beef onion and horseradish together. Maybe I’ll sneak some onion in there. Always a picky person in the crowd. 😉
I swapped the horseradish and added truffle aioli to the rolls before the rest! Unreal!
This is about the 10th time I have made these. I make them exactly like the recipe calls. Perfection! My boys ask for this for their birthday dinner. I have made it with big crowds. Today is my son’s birthday, I actually rest of the beef myself yesterday. Thank you so much for such a delicious recipe! The part I love about it is the caramelizing crispiness that happens at the bottom of the roll. Devine!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m making these this weekend to take while we’re entertaining friends on the boat. I’ll be preparing it in our camper and camper ovens aren’t the best. They are small and only heat from the bottom. I bought a little 12v lunch box that I can keep them warm in. Do you have any suggestions on how to prepare them not using the oven?
Absolutely delicious! I did change a few things however. I got the Hawaiian sweet rolls, but the savory butter ones instead. I also used boars head horseradish cheddar cheese and no additional horseradish sauce. I also added crispy fried onions on the sandwiches as well. Highly recommend!
Really good using the Hawaiian hamburger rolls for a dinner sandwich.
I just made these to take to the beach for 4th of July and had to sample one beforehand. OMG! So amazing! I had to do them in my air fryer on the bake setting because my kitchen is gutted. It took 6 minutes at 360 degrees and they were perfect.
So once the sauce mixture boils, you pour it over the bun right away? Seems like it would destroy the bun. Or do you let it cool off for a few minutes?
Don’t let the sauce boil too long. Cook it just until it starts to boil. You are just dissolving the sugar. The rolls should be fine, but you can certainly let the glaze cool a bit.
These are always a hit. I’ll be serving them
as we watch the RoseBowl this New Year’s.
You are right. These are amazing. And they are even good if the power goes out during a summer storm.
I really loved these sandwiches. I didn’t use horseradish. My wife thought it was too sweet with the brown sugar and sweet rolls.
Made these except no horse radish. Everyone loved them.
These have been a hit everywhere I’ve taken them! I’ve made them at the beach, on a girls mtn. trip, family get together at Christmas & tonight we are having them at an election party! I am a fan of Boar’s Deluxe (low sodium), I just didn’t like them as much with store brand meats.
Jenny Gerding–I too like these and they are super easy….I am from the Ohio Gerdings…are you too?
Ruth Gerding
What can you use instead of Horseradish sauce, We don’t care for horseradish…..
You can use any condiment you like or none at all.
This recipe is great! Easy to make and sooooo delicious!! I used Kroger deli roast beef and was great!! Will definitely make again! 👍😉
Excellent recipe – our family enjoyed it SO much. Way to go! Thanks for sharing!
these look great.. except.. I dont think thats deli roast beef.. this looks like shredded chuck roast?
NOPE! It is Boars Head deli roast beef
I would love to try these, they look so good! But I'm Canadian and we can't get Hawaiian rolls or American cheese here. I'm sure I can find a substitute for the rolls but the cheese will be more difficult. Perhaps just a mix of Cheddar and Mozzarella?
Any cheese would work fine. Enjoy!
We like Swiss or Provolone
I use cheddar cheese & provolone along w/Boars Head L/s Roastbeef ( sliced just above shaved)
These are sooo good and easy! I use Kretchier or Hillshire farm roast beef – not a fan of Boer’s Head. BTY – you have the best recipes!
These look and sound amazing! Definitely going on my menu for our next get together!
These don't get soggy do they?
They do….on purpose! And they’re delicious! I’ve made several versions of this sandwich, the Hawaiian rolls smothered in butter, then popped into the oven for a few minutes create a fantastic, very soft…some would call them a bit soggy, sandwich. They’re supposed to be that way. And no, they’re not for those that are constantly counting every calorie, but you can count calories another day, this is a splurge!
How would you recommend making these ahead? I'd need to make three batches for our party. Thanks!
You can bake them, cover and then refrigerate them. I would cover them with foil and just reheat them in the oven when you are ready to serve them.
Made these sandwiches … so good! The only change to the recipe is that I mixed the horseradish cream with the butter, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce. I think that this recipe should be in your "Crack" recipe section because it is so "of-the-hook" good.
highlighted horseradish sauce, I meant to say.
the ad won't allow your horseradish to show. Can you correct this? thanks.
I make something like this using leftover roast I cooked in the crock pot. They are delicious so I know these must be as well.
Thanks for correcting the recipe, although I think we got the gist!! lol!!
