Fiocchi Naan Flatbread

This recipe has been on my “to-make” list for a really long time. It was inspired by one of our favorite appetizers, Fiocchi. Fiocchi is a little pasta purse filled with pears and gorgonzola. It is served in a butter sauce with sage, prosciutto, and walnuts. It is amazing. Chicken Legs has been on me for years to turn that appetizer into a flatbread. Well, I finally did and it was AMAZING! Now I am off to make this again!

How to Make Pear & Gorgonzola Flatbread

These flatbreads only take a few minutes to assemble and are super delicious. Start with making the brown butter sage sauce. Melt butter over medium heat, stirring constantly. The butter will start to foam. Continue cooking until brown specks start to appear in the bottom of the pan. Drop 2 sage leaves into the butter and remove from heat. Pour the butter into a small dish to stop the cooking process.

Brush naan flatbreads with half of the browned butter. Top each flatbread with prosciutto, pear, walnuts, and gorgonzola. Sprinkle fresh sage over top of flatbreads and bake. Drizzle baked flatbreads with remaining browned butter and enjoy!

  • I used precooked Naan flatbread as the base. I like Stonefire Original Naan. You can find it in the deli/produce area at the grocery store.

What to Serve with Naan Flatbread

I am not a huge fan of gorgonzola, but it really works in this dish. We usually serve this with a salad or some french fries. This also makes a GREAT appetizer! Slice the cooked flatbread into pieces and let everyone grab a slice. SO YUMMY!

  1. Just tried this recipe with my parents today! We made some changes, we used unsalted butter and added fig and arugula to it—soooo tasty. Clever trick using naan as a base, will definitely be making this again!
