These Pimento Cheese Muffins are perfect for The Masters!

The Masters golf tournament starts this week. This is a big deal in our house. Chicken Legs is a huge golf fan. We’ve been lucky enough to go to The Masters a few times for the practice rounds. It is an amazing experience. The course is one of the most beautiful golf courses in the world.

What is Pimento Cheese?

Pimento cheese is a traditional Southern dip/spread/sandwich filling. It is, in the simplest terms, cheese, mayonnaise and diced pimentos

One of the traditions of The Masters golf tournament is the food. They are famous for their pimento cheese and egg salad sandwiches. I’ve made my own versions on the blog. Both are great. This year I decided to make some pimento cheese muffins. I modified one of my favorite cheesy muffin recipes by adding pimento cheese to them. They were great! We don’t even really like pimento cheese, and we loved these cheesy muffins. They are perfect for snacking during the tournament, breakfast, lunch, dinner or even tailgating this fall!

What is the best brand of Pimento Cheese?

One note on the pimento cheese in this recipe. I made these with a couple of different brands of prepared pimento cheese, and I highly recommend using Palmetto brand pimento cheese. I found it in the refrigerated section of the grocery store – near the shredded cheese or cream cheese. It is packed full of cheese and wasn’t an orange goopy mess. Palmetto has several varieties – plain, jalapeño, and bacon. I used the bacon in this batch, but I plan on making a batch with the jalapeño pimento cheese soon! (Palmetto doesn’t know me, I just think it is the best for this recipe)

  1. All I can say is, "WOW" – these muffins are absolutely FANTASTIC! I made them today (so easy to make, by the way) and we had them with tonight with dinner. I thought my husband was going to eat the whole batch, lol. He is a bread person but I am not; however, I was right there with him in how good these are! I had never heard of Palmetto pimento cheese but looked it up and found it was sold at 2 nearby grocery stores – so stopped and bought a container. All I can say about it is…..I will NEVER eat the orange goopy stuff again! I am now a fan – it is SO darn good! It is a little pricier but I am willing to pay that for the increase in good taste! Thanks so much for your blog – I have found so many recipes that I have printed and have – and will – try! I like the Bubble Up casseroles, too! Yum Yum!

  2. We don't even have pimento cheese in our area!! (I had to google it to see what the heck it was! And no grocery store carries it). Can I use a "cheese spread" instead?

    1. Cheese spread won't be the same. You can make homemade pimento cheese or use a cup of cheese and add a couple of tablespoons of pimentos.

  3. Palmetto Cheese is very good. I prefer the plain; bacon didn't do much for me. I have tried other brands from the grocery store, and this is the best by far.

  4. I'm supposed to bring an appetizer to Easter dinner and I think I'll bring these. Thanks for the recipe Stephanie!

  5. I have a question. Do you think you could use homemade pimento cheese? I ask because I am really not a big fan of store bought pimento cheese as I feel like there is a bad ratio of cheese to mayo. ha. Love your recipes! Been following your blog for about 2 years!

  6. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Palmetto Pimento Cheese – it's the only one I will eat from the store 🙂

I need to make these muffins this weekend – I think there needs to be some finger foods for after Church 🙂
