This Pizza Spaghetti Casserole combines my two favorite foods – pizza and pasta. I made this for dinner the other night and we devoured it! I reheated the leftovers for lunch and they were equally delicious (if not better). My favorite part about this recipe is the crispy pepperoni on top! YUM! Serve this with some garlic bread and a salad for a restaurant-quality meal.
How to Make Pizza Spaghetti Casserole
This casserole is very easy to make. Start with cooking the pasta. While the pasta is cooking, cook the sausage until no longer pink. Quickly cook some pepperoni until it starts to get crispy. Spread the cooked spaghetti in the bottom of a baking dish. Top the pasta with the sausage. Pour spaghetti sauce over sausage and top with some pepperoni. Top the pepperoni with cheese and finish the casserole with some more pepperoni slices. Cover the casserole and bake. Remove the foil and bake until the cheese is nice and bubbly.
Tips for Making Baked Spaghetti
- I used a roll of Jimmy Dean sausage. I also use Johnsonville Italian sausage.
- You can substitute turkey sausage or ground beef for pork sausage.
- Feel free to use whole wheat pasta in this casserole.
- Can use regular or turkey pepperoni in this dish.
- I used a package of Italian cheese blend. Feel free to use any cheese you prefer.
- This is a great dish to add all of your favorite pizza toppings – onions, bell peppers, olives, mushrooms. Anything goes! Throw them on top with the pepperoni or instead of pepperoni.
- My favorite store-bought spaghetti sauces are Trader Joe’s Roasted Garlic Marinara (green label), Rao’s, and La Famiglia DelGrosso.
- Can Spaghetti Casserole be made in advance? Yes! You can assemble the casserole ahead of time and refrigerate until ready to serve.
- Can Spaghetti Casserole be frozen? Yes! You can assemble the casserole ahead of time and freeze for later. To bake after freezing, thaw completely and bake as directed below.
- You can freeze the baked casserole. To reheat, thaw and reheat in the microwave or in the oven. To reheat in the oven, thaw, and cover the pan with aluminum foil. Bake at 350ºF for 30 to 45 minutes, until warm throughout.
- This makes a lot of pasta. Feel free to split the casserole between two pans. Bake one and freeze one for later.

Delicious, easy and quick.
My family loved this recipe. The only change I made was to use both ground beef and Italian sausage. The grandkids had seconds. It is a keeper and so easy to do!
I like this idea, but I would add sauteed mushrooms, onions and green pepper into the casserole. I might also toss the spaghetti layer with garlic herb butter especially if I was going to freeze it.
Thanks for the inspiration! Love your blog.
How many carbs per serving, I have to count the carbs for my son he has CF diabetes.

Steph…your blog is amazing! I wanted to let you know of something I do that you might like. I take pepperoni slices, place them on a paper towel lined (I used about 3-4 paper towels) microwave-safe plate and nuke them in the microwave for approx 1 to 1 1/2 minutes until crispy…these are delish added on a pizza, in a salad, in a pasta dish or for just plain old snacking. Thanks for sharing your recipes & blog with us!
I've got this baking in the oven. I think it's gonna be a winner…thanks for sharing.
Btw, happy birthday! 🙂
