Stop what you are doing and make this Pulled Pork Taco Soup! OMG! It is SOOOOO good!! I’ve made taco soup with ground beef and chicken, but this pulled pork version is my favorite!! WHY haven’t I done this before?!?!? The pulled pork gave the soup a nice smoky flavor. This soup is great for potlucks and tailgating this Fall. Whip up some cornbread and you are set!
How to Make Taco Soup
This taco soup takes less than 30 minutes to make from start to finish. In a Dutch oven, combine pulled pork, black beans, pinto beans, corn, Rotel diced tomatoes and green chiles, taco seasoning, ranch seasoning, and chicken broth. Bring to a boil and simmer 20 minutes.
- I bought my pulled pork at Costco. You can also find pre-cooked pulled pork at the grocery store or you can go to your favorite BBQ joint and grab a pound of pork for this recipe.

- You can use any beans you prefer in this soup.
- Is taco soup spicy? We did not think this soup was spicy. If you are worried about the heat, use a can of MILD Rotel tomatoes.
- Can taco soup be made in the slow cooker? Yes! just dump everything in the crockpot and cook on LOW or HIGH for a few hours. I like to whip up a batch in the slow cooker for tailgating and parties.
- Can taco soup be frozen? Yes! You can freeze the soup for a quick meal later. To reheat, thaw and reheat on the stove or in the microwave.
- To make this a freezer meal, simply place all the ingredients in a gallon freezer bag and freeze. When ready to make the soup, place the contents of the freezer bag in the slow cooker and cook on LOW all day. There is no need to thaw the contents before adding them to the crockpot. Just make sure to freeze the bag upright so it will fit in the crockpot easily without thawing.

Very good. I added jalapeños for some added spice. Any idea on nutritional content, specifically calories per serving? Thanks so much!
Here is a good website to estimate calories: https://whisk.com/recipe-nutrition-calculator
Making this now, didn’t have either of the flavoring packets so used the recipes provided for both. I also had to sub nonfat dry milk for the buttermilk powder, added a splash of lemon juice to the soup to round it out. It’s still simmering but as of right now, the broth tastes spot on for tortilla soup. I was simply trying to use up some leftover pulled pork, did not expect to pull off something this tasty so quickly! Thanks!
Delicious. I added some cilantro at the end and would consider a little lime juice when served
Possible to use vegetable broth?
sure!
This has become one of my very favorite soups! So easy and so delicious!
This is so good!! My dad got some pulled pork from his church so I made this soup for him. It’s to hot for him but I thought it was perfect!! Next time I’ll go half Rotel and half chopped tomatoes just for him.
SO glad it was a hit!
I can’t believe how ridiculously easy and good this was! If you have leftover pulled pork, you must make this.
SO glad you enjoyed it, Penni!
It was very good I’ll make it again.
O MY HEAVENS!!! Where has this recipe been all my life!! THANK YOU! Just had the first taste straight out of the pot..HOLY flavor explosion!! SO TASTY! SO SIMPLE!
I found the perfect recipe to use my leftover pulled pork! I made this tonight and I’ll be serving this for game day tomorrow. Delicious!
Used smoked pulled pork I had from weekend. Didn't change a thing, but doubled recipe mostly. Tasted like a cross between Max and Erma's tortilla soup and an enchilada. Was delicious.
You mention this can be made in the crockpot – Low for 4 hours or is there a better way to do this?
I think 4 hours on low should be plenty. As long as it is heated through, you are good
your link is broken..can't save to Pinterest…….tried 4 times……..
Hello, there is no where locally to get pulled pork. What is your pulled pork seasoned with? I can make the pulled pork, then use in this recipe. Thanks!
I season my pulled pork with a store-bought BBQ seasoning. Look for McCormick or Weber
Is the can of Rotel the only tomatoes in this soup? It looks very tomato-y to only have one 10 oz can of tomatoes with chilis.
Yes – the ingredients listed are correct
This looks amazing!!! I can't wait to try it!
So true! Why is there never any pulled pork in these soups? Can't wait to try it — great tip on buying the premade meat– so easy!
