One of our favorite vacation spots is The Ritz Carlton at Amelia Island, FL. The beach is great but the sticky buns on the breakfast buffet are the highlight of our trips! OMG. They are to-die-for delicious. I kid you not!
I was raving about the sticky buns one morning and one of the waitresses in the cafe gave me a printed copy of the recipe. She said her husband was the pastry chef and invented the sticky buns for the hotel. WOW! I was thrilled to finally be able to eat these anytime I wanted!
How to Make Sticky Buns with Frozen Dough
The original recipe calls for pre-purchased Danish Dough. I researched it and it is hard to get as a consumer. I decided to make this recipe super easy and use frozen cinnamon roll dough. It worked perfectly!
To make these sticky buns, mix together butter and brown sugar in a mixer until smooth. Mix in some honey, corn syrup, and vanilla. Spread the brown sugar mixture into the bottom of a 9×13-inch pan. Sprinkle with chopped pecans. Place the frozen cinnamon rolls on top of the pecans. Cover and let rise. Once the rolls are nice and puffy, pop them in the oven and bake. Turn the pan upside down on a platter and enjoy!

i have looked at all local stores, no fz cinnamon roll dough to be found.
I put the prepared pan of rolls in the oven just before bedtime with the oven light on. It makes a nice cozy atmosphere for the rolls to rise. In the morning take them out. preheat the oven, and then put them back in to finish it off. Works great!
I can’t find frozen dough either. Will refrigerated cinnamon rolls work?
I can’t find the cinnamon roll dough. Can you recommend a substitute?
