Sandestin, FL Getaway – where to stay, where to eat and what to do! Some of the best food we’ve ever eaten! You must check this out!
A few weeks ago we went to the beach for a couple of days.
I love going to the beach in the winter. It isn’t super hot or super crowded.
We stayed at the Hilton Sandestin – right on the beach. We spent lots of time relaxing at the spa and on the beach, played some golf, rented some bikes and ate a ton of amazing food! A TON!
We ate a several new places. Some of which are now new favorites.
Spring Break is right around the corner.
Make sure to check out our recommendations while planning your upcoming beach trip!
Where to Stay
We spent three nights at the Hilton Sandestin.
We love staying at the Hilton because it is right on the beach.
They recently finished updating the hotel.
The room was super nice and big!
The view couldn’t be beat!

Where to Eat
Sunset Bay Cafe
Sunset Bay Cafe is one of my favorites in Sandestin.
This was my second time eating here and Chicken Legs first time.
The food here is ridiculously good.
The cocktails are HUGE and delicious!
I could barely finish my mimosa. The Bloody Mary was one of the best we’ve had!
You MUST get the Southern Fries to start – sidewinder fries topped with homemade gravy, bacon and fried cheese curds. I could eat these every single day!
For our entrees, I got the burger. SO good. Super juicy and cooked to perfection.
Chicken Legs got the Hillbilly Benedict
Poached Eggs, Smoked Gouda Fried Grit Cakes, Fried Chicken, and Hollandaise
He wanted to lick his plate!
Southern Fries – a MUST!
Sunset Bay Cafe is located on the Bayside of Sandestin.
Just tell the guard you are eating at Sunset Bay Cafe and you can get through the gate.

Another Broken Egg Cafe
Breakfast and lunch at Another Broken Egg Cafe is always a great choice.
We went for brunch on our way out of town.
We started with the Biscuit Beignets and the Baked Brie Delight (Apples, pecans & raisins sautƩed in a Grand Marnier butter sauce over warm Brie cheese with toasted French bread). YUM!
Chicken Legs got the Chez B’s Omelette – red bell peppers, portabella mushrooms & caramelized onions with feta, shaved Parmesan & fresh basil. Crazy delicious!
I got Nellie’s Delight -Roasted garlic balsamic glazed chicken, crisp bacon, smoked Gouda, lettuce & tomato, served on artisan bread. Perfection!

The Perfect Pig
The Perfect Pig might be our new favorite place in the Destin area! It is located in Santa Rosa Beach on 30A. If you are in the area, you MUST go! MUST!
We went for lunch, but they also serve breakfast and dinner.
Chicken Legs got the Blackened grouper tacos with avocado slaw, black bean and corn salsa and and sriracha aioli. He said they were hands down the best fish tacos he has ever eaten! He almost didn’t order them because everyone does fish tacos at the beach. Boy, is he glad he ordered them. He could not stop talking about how great they were. They are a MUST!
I ordered the parmesan crusted grilled cheese with tomatoes, mozzarella and pesto. I added pulled pork. O-M-G! Ridiculous! The cheese on the outside was amazing. It was the best grilled cheese I’ve ever eaten. I am definitely going to have to recreate a parmesan crusted grilled cheese at home.
In addition to the tacos and sandwich, we got an order of the Billy Goat Chips – so good!
Everything is a la carte – so make sure to order some chips!
For dessert we got the Chocolate Croissant Bread Pudding with Bourbon Caramel Sauce.
Food heaven!
Look at that cheese!
Best fish tacos in the world!

Brotula’s
Brotula’s was a real treat. We ate SO much great food that I thought we were both going to explode!
Everything was delicious!
To start we had the SautĆ©ed Mussels – white wine, garlic butter, tomato and garlic bread. I could just drink the broth!
We got a few things to share for entrees.
First was the Conecuh and Potato Crusted Snapper over smoked cheddar grits and topped with a creole mustard sauce. All of Brotula’s fish comes with a trace code so you can track your fish.
We also got an order of the Buttermilk Fried Chicken – it is the chef’s grandmother’s recipe. It was ridiculously good. Some of the best I’ve eaten. The mac and cheese was also super delicious!
Finally we got some Crab Legs in a cajun boil. Chicken Legs had never eaten crab legs, so he was excited to try them. He loved them!
Southern Poutine Fries – fries topped with bbq gravy, pulled pork, fried cheese, shredded cheese and green onions. I could have made a meal out of this! Crazy good!
Since we didn’t eat enough, we finished the night off with a slice of Key Lime Pie.
It was topped with some white chocolate whipped cream.
Crazy good!
I will be making white chocolate whipped cream very soon!

Marlin Grill
Marlin Grill is located in Baytowne Wharf in Sandestin.
We had dinner here and loved it!
Their menu is on an iPad and they have a photo of every item on the menu!
You can see what it looks like before you order. It really helps when you are debating between a couple of things.
We started with the Crab Cakes and Wedge Salad.
For entrees, I got the chicken.
It comes with a choice of caper cream or sauce meunier. I asked for a little of both of them on the side! I think I preferred the sauce meunier.
Chicken Legs got the Bone-In Filet and it was delicious!
For our side we ordered the Tasso Ham Macaroni and Cheese. SO good.
Next time I will get a double order for my meal! LOL!
For dessert we got the chocolate cake.
Perfect ending to the meal!

We had to check out all the food in the hotel.
The breakfast buffet was delicious!
They have cheese grits, biscuits, sausage gravy, pancakes, waffles, made to order omelettes.
The bacon was crispy perfection.
If you don’t want a big breakfast, you can grab a pastry or breakfast sandwich and coffee at The Coffee Sho.
One night we dined in the lobby bar area.
They have amazing sushi at the Hadashi Sushi Bar.
Chicken Legs ate himself silly on sushi.
I am not a fan of sushi, so I ordered some wings and fries.
The wings were really good!
We had a night cap in Seagar’s.
We love Seagar’s! We didn’t have time to eat dinner here on this trip.
Next time!

I love your travel posts and save them, too, as the poster above does. I like the informative nature and recommendations and it's nice that you offer a variety of foods and choices when recommending a restaurant. Thanks, also, for not using the word totally constantly, also, that gets old when reading a blog by an adult! Hahahaha We will be traveling to Destin in the late spring and I would like to visit the Serenity By The Sea Spa. Which massage do you recommend and would you get a pedi there again? Thanks!
I got the 50 minute relaxation massage and I would absolutely get another pedicure. It was honestly one of the best I've even had. Get the paraffin treatment – only $10 more and SO worth it!
I love your travel blogs! I save them to a travel folder — hey, a girl can dream!!!
