How to Make Sausage Gravy Breakfast Bake

This casserole is super easy to make with only a few simple ingredients. In a large skillet, cook breakfast sausage over medium-high heat until no longer pink and crumbled. Drain excess grease. Spread cooked sausage in the bottom of a baking dish that has been sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over sausage.

In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, water, milk, and sausage gravy packet until well blended. Season with salt and black pepper. Pour egg mixture over sausage. Cut bread slices into 1-inch cubes. Arrange bread over the top of the casserole. Drizzle with melted butter. Bake, uncovered, in a preheated oven until the eggs are set. Serve with additional sausage gravy.

What to Serve with Sausage Gravy Breakfast Casserole

This has quickly become one of our favorite breakfast casseroles. The casserole has great flavor with the addition of the sausage gravy, and we both really loved the crispy bread on top. I topped the casserole with some extra sausage gravy because you can never have too much sausage gravy! We serve this with some cheese grits and fresh fruit. It is equally delicious with some roasted potatoes and cinnamon rolls

  1. Help for Jane 226…I found this on the McCormick site under the Country Breakfast Casserole recipe: Make Ahead Tip: Cover and refrigerate unbaked casserole overnight. Bake, uncovered, in preheated 325°F oven 50 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Hope this helps :o)

  2. I made this for dinner & it was very tasty. I left the sausage gravy on the side for self-serve, and put maple syrup on my teenage Son's serving instead. It tasted like a Mc Donalds McGriddle & he absolutely loved it! Thanks!

  3. Sorry, this is probably a dumb question, but if I want to make this the night before, what step do I stop at? Will the bread get soggy if I make the whole thing and stick it in the fridge? Thanks for your help!
