Sugar & Spice Candied Nuts

Last year we took a trip to Europe and visited the Christmas Markets. It was a dream trip! One of my favorite snacks at the markets was the candied nuts. They were incredibly delicious! SO much better than the nuts at the mall kiosks.

Since we can’t go back to the Christmas Markets this year, I decided to make my own spiced nuts at home. OMG! SO good! These nuts should come with a warning label. They are dangerously delicious! They are easy to make and smell AMAZING while they cook. You must add these to your holiday baking list!

How to Make Slow Cooker Spiced Mixed Nuts

As I said, these Slow Cooker Candied Spiced Nuts are SUPER easy to make. In a giant bowl, whisk egg whites and vanilla until slightly foamy. Stir in pecans, walnuts, almonds, and cashews. Combine sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Add to nut mixture and toss well. Pour the nuts into the slow cooker and cook. Spread the cooked nuts on waxed paper or parchment and cool completely.

  • You can use any nuts you prefer in this recipe. Almonds, cashews, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, peanuts, pecans, pistachios, or walnuts all work great!
  • The cooked nuts will keep at least 1 week in an air-tight container.
  • Sometimes I substitute almond extract or amaretto for the vanilla.
  • Can substitute an equal amount of pumpkin pie spice for the cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves.
  • You can half the recipe and keep the cooking time the same.

  1. Update from my previous review… I re roasted the entire patch in a 250° oven for 20 min, then 400° for 10… they are incredibly crunchy and PERFECT!! Like twice fried French fries😁.

  2. Hi,
I was thinking of making this for my Dad but he’s allergic to cinnamon. Can I use a substitute or just leave it out?
And one more question, you said that you can substitute equal amounts of pumpkin pie spice for some of the spices. But I’m not sure what you meant by equal since they are different amounts originally. Can you please clarify? Thank you 😊.

  3. Delicious! This recipe was much better than another one I tried that did not use the egg whites and had to cook much longer. The only problem is you can’t stop eating them!

  4. Dang, girl! I’m gonna have to start wearing a bib when I read your blog. I keep drooling all over the front of my blouse! LOL!
Thanks Stephanie, for sharing this and all your great recipes.
