How to Make Slow Cooker Chicken & Rice with Cream of Chicken Soup
As I said, this Slow Cooker Chicken & Rice is SUPER easy to make. Put some chicken breasts in crockpot. Add some dried minced onion or onion powder and top with a can of Cream of Chicken Soup. Let the chicken cook. About 15 minutes before serving, make the rice. Shred the chicken, stir in the rice and that is it!
You can use any cream of soup that you prefer – mushroom, celery, chicken. I used a box of Uncle Ben’s Quick Cook Long Grain & Wild Rice in this Slow Cooker Chicken & Rice. You can make the rice the night before and refrigerate it. You can also use two packages of Uncle Ben’s Ready Rice Long Grain & Wild Rice. Just open the packages and stir it in the with the shredded chicken. Both options are super easy!
This Slow Cooker Chicken & Rice can be cooked on LOW all day or on HIGH for a couple of hours. I’ve made it both ways and it tastes great. It just depends on how much time you have for dinner.

Can you use Instant white rice with recipe ?
any cooked rice will be fine
Any idea how to do this for Instapot? I’ve made this before as directed with the slow cooker and loved it but I totally spaced today and forgot to start it in time for dinner!
How much onion powder do you substitute for
I make this all the time. I use cream of chicken soup. I make white rice but I don’t add it to the crockpot. I serve the chicken over the rice.
How many servings is this?
Super easy and delicious. I follow the directions, wouldn’t change a thing.
So glad you enjoyed it, Jo!
If I am going to use onion powder instead of dried minced onions, do I still need to put 2 tbsp of the onion powder?
It is up to you how much onion powder to use. As always, please use your best judgment regarding substitutions and modifications.
What do you garnish it with?
I sprinkled the rice with dried parsley
Can I top it with panko bread crumbs
sure!
I used thighs rather than breast and cream of mushroom soup. I cooked the chicken for 3.5 hours on high and it was incredibly tender. Such a delicious dish. I assure you we will have this again.
Made this with chicken tenderloins, cream of chicken soup, and Zatarans yellow rice mix. So good!! Served Italian beans with it. Loved it!
Sounds yummy!
Have done this twice now and will do again it's delicious

I want to use white rice, is there any difference in measurements
No. Just use any amount and any type of cooked rice you prefer.
I’m lactose intolerant. Is there something I can substitute for the cream of chicken, etc
I don’t know of a substitute.
Do you add the can of water that the soup calls for or do you just put in the soup?
Do I add the can of water the soup calls for or just use the cream of chicken?
Just the soup.
What size can of cream of mushroom soup did you use?
Is there a way I can add this to pineterst? I've made it and it's yummy.
This looks easy and good, Steph. It reminds me of my moms turkey and wild rice soup, just not a soup. I like it.
This looks great! I love easy slow-cooker recipes and I absolutely love your blog (and the fact that you are a Birmingham girl) 🙂
Couldn't get any easier or tastier. I need to use my crock pot more often. It so nice to come home to the smell of all of those flavors simmering inside, not to mention voila dinner is ready.
Looks really good! I'm gonna try it….tomorrow! 🙂 I even have some leftover rice in the fridge and all that yummy sauce will save it, too.

Certainly sounds easy enough. I'd use a brown basmati rice to make it healthier. Thanks for sharing!
I agree – this looks great! And, I'm not a fan of wild rice OR mushroom soup. But, I'd definitely try it.
Looks yummy.
Something my husband would eat!
