This Slow Cooker Coca-Cola Pulled Pork might be the easiest meal I’ve ever made. It is literally two ingredients – pork shoulder and a can of Coke. I put the pork in the crockpot on my way out of the house and when I got home from work it was ready. It literally just fell apart. It was so good! I went the extra mile and made a homemade Coca-Cola BBQ sauce to go with the pork. OMG! It put the pork over the top! You must try this ASAP!
How to Make Coca-Cola Pulled Pork in the Crockpot
As I said, this is super duper easy to make. Place a pork shoulder in the slow cooker. Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the pork. Cover and cook on LOW all day. Remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred with two forks, discarding any fatty pieces.
To make the homemade Coca-Cola BBQ sauce, in a large saucepan, bring Coca-Cola, ketchup, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, onion, chili powder, and salt to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 20 to 30 minutes, until thick. You can toss the pork with the BBQ sauce or just spoon some of the sauce over the pork when you serve it.

This is very,very good!!!
Anyone tried this with chicken instead of pork?
Chicken will work fine.
Can you do this with some kind of chicken? Like Chicken breasts? How long do you cook 3-4 frozen chicken breasts in Crockpot? We don’t eat any pork. But we’ve seen pulled BBQ chicken at Sam’s club. We didn’t care for theirs very much. Thank you in advance!!!
my Boston butt is 8.6 lbs do I need to use 2 csns of coke? is 10 hours long enough to cook?
That sounds like a good starting point.
making it soon but can I usepork tenderloin
Can you use shoulder blade steaks for this?
I’m sure any pork would work fine.
How would I change this for a pressure cooker. On 5 hours of cooking and not yet tender (on high).
I seriously doubt this. Pulled pork only takes about an hour in the Instant Pot.
I would say it is completely burnt
Ok I made this tonight but I did it on the stove top as we don't have a crock pot (A. not enough room in our small kitchen and B. We didn't really use it when we had one). I'm not super crazy about how the meat turned out, but I think that's my fault, we'll see tomorrow. The sauce however is pretty great. I ended up using soy sauce and a little garlic powder since we didn't have Worcestershire. I added a little extra Coke and some brown sugar too. I think next time I'll add a little less vinegar honestly but it's a great recipe overall.
I just started this about a half-hour ago. I used Dr Pepper & also rubbed the pork shoulder with garlic powder, salt & pepper. I'll get started on the sauce this afternoon.
I tried this recipe with Root Beer. Was also sooooo good.
I bet it was! I will have to try that next time.
Easy! Delicious! Try it, you'll like it!
How many people do you think this would serve? I want to try this for 4th of July with either diet coke or coke zero. Thanks!
Unknown – just pour the coke in. No need to worry about covering the whole pork.
Okay, newbie question. Do you need to cover the pork with coke? Or do you just pour it over and not worry about the part of the meat that's not in liquid?
I'm looking forward to making this recipe. You have a great site!
I was cooking my pork in the slow cooker & needed a good, EASY recipe for the BBQ sauce. I looked @ all the "big name" sites (Food Network; Allrecipes, Big Oven, etc..). I couldn't find anything I liked so I googled it, 8 pages later I came across your recipe, it was good, easy & fast. Loved it!! I did put a twist on it & added some Boubon to it. Even though the alcohol burns off it adds more flavor to the sauce. Thank you!!
im wanting to do this for my wedding which is at 2pm…whats the best way to prepare this the day b4 so it wont dry out??? Would the BBQ sauce need to be made that day or could it be made the day b4 as well??? Could you possiable email me with any tips or suggestions? k_d_canup@yahoo.com
Would this work with diet coke or pork tenderloin?
I made threw this in the crockpot this morning and couldn't wait to get home. This was so delicious (I forgot to buy the stuff for the sauce but made am old standby). I'm almost glad the hubs is going out of town, now I get the rest to myself! Thanks for this!
i am in love with how easy this is..put it in the crock pot this morning before work
I plan on making Chipolte-style burritos (sans BBQ sauce) with it tonight!
this is like a little bit of home! Can't wait to try it this week:) I love this blog.
We were going to grill yesterday but it was raining so I ended up making this instead, and it was fantastic! Super easy to make and now we have plenty of leftovers.
That would be a good one for tailgating.
SO excited to find another Auburn blogger! And a really awesome one, at that. WAR EAGLE!
Oh dear. I think I'm in trouble! My bf LOVES pulled pork. And this is easy enough that now I don't have an excuse not to make it! 🙂
Fab!!! I grew up in Bham and crave BBQ often. My current city has 2 BBQ joints and they are awful, thus I create my own weekly. I've never done a cola version, though. would diet coke suffice??
That looks really good…I rarely say coca cola and our house is full of coke collectables
I make a very similar boston butt. I use a 12 oz can of cola or buffalo rock gingerale (I'm going to try Dr. P next time though) and a jar of Olie's BBQ sauce. All the vinegar makes it delicious!!! Mmmmmmm good!
It may be 6:30 in the morning, but I'd sure take one of these right now!
Unknown – I do allow pinning – it is obviously an issue with Pinterest. You know how buggy Pinterest can be at times! Please try again!!
Looks really good Steph – I believe some of the pro competetion BBQers use Coke and Dr Pepper in their cooking.
