Crockpot Green Bean Casserole with No Soup

I know Halloween is tomorrow, but I am already thinking about Thanksgiving recipes. This Slow Cooker Green Bean Casserole is definitely going to be on our menu. OMG! SO good! The best part about this recipe is that there is NO cream of anything soup! What?!?!? I know! Crazy!

The creaminess in this Slow Cooker Green Casserole comes from alfredo sauce. It makes the green beans so creamy and soooooo delicious! There is also a can of water chestnuts in the mixture. It gives the casserole a nice crunch.

Slow Cooker Green Bean Casserole

This casserole is super easy to make. Simply mix together fresh green beans, Alfredo sauce, water chestnuts, mushrooms, pepper, and French fried onions. Pour the mixture into the crockpot and cook. Sprinkle with additional fried onions before serving.

  • You can mix up the green bean mixture the night before and just dump it in the slow cooker on Thanksgiving or Christmas day. SO easy! I love that I can fix this side dish and forget it.
  • If you aren’t a fan of mushrooms, you can leave them out. The casserole will taste just as good without them.
  • My favorite jarred Alfredo sauces are Trader Joe’s, Rao’s, or Bertoli. You can use any flavor that you enjoy best.

Easy Holiday Side Dish

I love using my slow cooker during the holidays. It frees up space in the oven and doubles as a serving dish! This casserole will definitely be on our holiday table. It is SO much better than the traditional green bean casserole loaded with cream of mushroom soup! Here are a few more of our favorite recipes from the blog that go great with this easy side dish:

  1. Hi. This looks great for Thanksgiving. I have never used store-bought Alfredo sauce before. Which brand do you recommend?
    Thanks!

  2. Definitely going to try this before Thanksgiving! I didn't like the original green bean casserole I thought it was kind of bland, but this actually seems great! Can't wait to try!
