Which Pot Roast or Chuck Roast Cut is Best?
I know it can be super confusing picking the beef for a pot roast. If you are like me, you don’t know if you need a blade roast, chuck roast, shoulder pot roast. ??? There really isn’t’ a cut of meat called “pot roast”. Pot Roast is really more of the method of cooking – low and slow. Look for the terms such as chuck roast, blade roast, shoulder steak, boneless chuck roast, chuck shoulder pot roast in the meat section. You can also look for a rump roast or bottom round roast. Any of those cuts will work great.
How to Make Pot Roast Beef Sliders
These Slow Cooker Maple Chipotle Beef Sliders are basically pot roast sandwiches. You want to start with browning the beef on all sides. You want to cook it for 2 or 3 minutes per side, just until it starts to brown. Place the browned meat in the slow cooker/crockpot. Next, you are going to add the maple syrup, pineapple juice, tomato paste, and chipotles. Cover the slow cooker and let it cook for 6 to 8 hours. The longer the better for pot roast. Once the beef is done and falling apart, remove it from the slow cooker and shred. Return the beef to the cooking liquid and serve.
If you want to get a jump start on cooking these sliders, you can brown the beef the night before. You can put the beef in the slow cooker insert and even add the sauce ingredients and store it in the refrigerator overnight. Just pop the insert into the slow cooker in the morning and cook.
Can I Freeze Slow Cooker Maple Chipotle Beef Sliders?
Absolutely! You can freeze this cooked or uncooked. To freeze this meat uncooked, I suggest cutting the chuck roast into a couple of pieces and then brown in a skillet. Place browned meat into a gallon ziplock bag. Add the sauce ingredients and freeze. When ready to cook, just place the frozen contents of the freezer bag into the slow cooker insert and cook. You will need to plan on at least 8 to 10 hours of cooking time. You can also thaw the freezer bag and cook as directed below.
To freeze the leftover cooked meat, just place it in a freezer bag with the sauce and freeze. You can reheat it on the stove, the microwave, or in the slow cooker. I love to reheat the cooked meat in the slow cooker when I serve this at parties.
