My slow cooker might be my favorite small appliance. I love being able to dump everything in the slow cooker and come back to dinner. This Slow Cooker Ranch Chicken is a weeknight favorite!! SO creamy and delicious! This only takes about 5 minutes to throw together and dinner is ready when you are!!
How to Make Slow Cooker Ranch Chicken
There is a tiny bit of prep work for this chicken. Combine cream cheese, ranch seasoning, chicken broth, and cream of chicken soup in a saucepan. Heat the mixture just until the cheese has melted and is smooth. Place the chicken in the crockpot and pour the sauce on top. Cover and cook on LOW until the chicken is done. Heating the sauce on the stovetop for a minute will eliminate any chunks or curdling from the cream cheese.
- Can use any cut of chicken you prefer – breasts, thighs, or tenderloins.
- I prefer to use Philadelphia Cream Cheese in this recipe. I find that it melts the best.
- If you are sensitive to the ranch dressing mix, adjust the amount to your personal preference.
- Here is the recipe to our Homemade Ranch Dressing Mix: https://www.plainchicken.com/homemade-ranch-dressing-mix/
- For a gluten-free dish, use gluten-free cream of chicken soup and serve over rice or potatoes.
- Feel free to add vegetables to the mixture – potatoes or broccoli would be delicious.
- I serve the chicken as whole breasts. Feel free to shred the chicken if you prefer.

We served this Slow Cooker Ranch Chicken on top of pasta with the sauce from the slow cooker. Don’t let all that yummy sauce go to waste! Spoon it over the chicken. It is too good to waste!!! If you don’t want to serve this over pasta, grits, potatoes or rice would also be delicious.

Looks delicious! I'm in a pinch aand don't have any ranch mix but I do have ranch dip… would you suggest trying the dip or just leaving it out altogether?
Do you think I could make this work with just the chicken broth, ranch and cream cheese? I don't have any cream of chicken on hand and not up to running to the store with 4 little ones in tow right now….
You can certainly give it a try!
One more thing….. I cooked it on high and it was ready in 2.5hrs. So if you get a late start on dinner, you can still make this recipe work.
I made this last night. I doubled the recipe except for the ranch. I happened to have a cheddar bacon ranch dip mix and used that instead of the dressing mix. It was excellent. Yum!
I made this last night and OMG, it came out so delicious, FULL of flavor because of the ranch mix and cutting the chicken was like cutting through butter, so tender and juicy! I used all Aldi brand products because it was less expensive. After 4 hours on low, I took the chicken out, cut them up in small pieces and tossed them back in the crock pot, on the warm setting, while I was cooking the rice. Perfect with rice by the way! This will be so delicious for leftovers during lunch, and we already plan on having this be a part of our dinner rotation this winter. Thank you for the recipe!
Amazing! A new family favorite!
Doing this now, sounds great and I like how it's budget friendly, cant wait till its ready!
Yummy! I need to try this.
So I just wanted you to know that I made this and we all loved it! Thank you! I'm keeping this one. 🙂
