Green beans are a favorite in our house and these Slow Cooker Southern Green Beans are no exception. I especially love that I can just throw everything in the slow cooker and we have green beans for the week. This recipe makes a lot of green beans, especially for just two people. I love to make a batch on Sunday and portion the beans out for the week. We eat these green beans for lunch and dinner throughout the week.

These green beans are super easy to make. The hardest part about making this recipe is slicing the onion! Place fresh green beans, sliced red onion, lemon, tomatoes, garlic, chicken broth, salt and pepper in the slow cooker, cover, and walk away. The slow cooker does all the work. Feel free to toss in some ham or bacon for extra flavor.

  1. I served this at our Christmas dinner. I love how easy this is, but not just that, it's also so delicious! I'm a firm believer in keeping things simple. Even for special dinners, you can still keep things simple, and yet elegant and delicious. This recipe proves it! It is a winner and a keeper!

    1. Frozen should be fine. You can thaw them first or just toss them in frozen. I don’t think they would take long to thaw in the slow cooker

  2. this looks so good. I'm gathering recipes for a large family reunion and want recipes that can be made and frozen. Would this one freeze well?? Do you have any other recipes that you particularly like that are good for freezing?
