Pin This RecipeThis “Souper Rice” is so good! It is like a cheater risotto. This rice is made with chicken soup, instant rice, chicken broth, and parmesan cheese. It only takes about 10 minutes from start to finish. We both loved the flavors. This is a great base recipe to get creative with. You could add some chicken, peas, and mushrooms and this rice would be a full meal.
Feel free to use Cream of Mushroom soup or your favorite Cream of Soup flavor in this dish. You can also switch up the cheeses. Cheddar, asiago, romano – use whatever your family likes. I used grated parmesan cheese from the green jar and it tasted great!

Notes:
- This recipe is specifically made for Instant White Rice. Using any other kind of rice will not work with this particular recipe.

Sp good!
I’m definitely going to try this. I’m so sick of “plain” white rice…Thanks for the recipe!
Made this with cream of broccoli and vegetable stock and it was so good! This might be my new way to make rice.
SO glad you enjoyed it!
I love this recipe and it was super easy and delicious! I served it with homemade Italian chicken tenders and broccoli.
Thought about trying this but adding broccoli and leftover turkey from Christmas dinner
Sounds good!
When would I add the spinach if I wanted to add to it?
I would add it at the beginning with all of the other ingredients.
This is delicious and so easy.
Can one use the packaged rice that’s ready to heat and eat?
Not in this particular recipe
How much rice how many cups?

This was super fast and easy. I added frozen peas and left over chicken and made a one-pot meal. I even had enough left over to take to work for lunch the next day. One tip for those of us watching our sodium intake – don’t use the 98% fat free – it has almost twice as much salt as the heart healthy variety.
Could it be done with cauliflower rice?
What a great idea! But unfortunately, without further recipe testing, I cannot answer with certainty. As always, please use your best judgment regarding substitutions and modifications.
CAN YOU FREZE ANY LEFT OVERS?
I’ve never frozen rice like this, so I don’t know.
Tastes great. I didn’t have cream of chicken soup so I used cream of onion, WOW, it was great.
This is delicious!!! I have finally found my recipe for rice pilaf!! Thank you so much!
I am wondering about using tomato soup, some green chilis or salsa, maybe some chili powder, etc for a mexican version???
Sounds good. I say give it a try!
This has been my favorite rice recipe for a long time. Thank you Plainchicken for rhe recipe. Last night I added a small can of green chiles. It was wonderful! My husband, who loves all things rice, asked to save the leftovers. It paired so well with the chicken he had smoked.
I’m making this right now! Only had instant brown rice.. waiting to eat!!
