Preparing the family holiday meal can be a very stressful task. The keys to keeping the stress out of the holiday meal preparation is making a plan, having some make ahead recipes, simple recipes, slow cooker recipes and even throwing in a few delicious store bought extras! I’m going to share all my secret weapons for easily preparing and cleaning up your holiday meal!
Our Thanksgiving Menu

Cranberry Sauce (store bought)
One week before Thanksgiving
*Prepare Cheesecake.
The great thing about my Homemade Cheesecake is that it can be made in advance and frozen until you are ready to serve it.
The Best Homemade Cheesecake
3 days before Thanksgiving
*Prepare Cornbread for the Southern Cornbread Dressing.
Store in ziplock bags until Thanksgiving day.

*Prepare Buttermilk White Sauce for Cheddar Green Beans and Blanch Green Beans.
Refrigerate both.

Cheddar-Pecan Green Bean Casserole - no cream of anything soup!! Fresh green beans and roasted red peppers tossed in a yummy buttermilk ranch sauce and topped with cheddar, pecans, and french fried onions. Not your grandmother's green bean casserole. This casserole is to-die-for! Can make the buttermilk ranch sauce and blanch green beans ahead of time for easy holiday meal prep!
2 days before Thanksgiving
*Thaw turkey

*Prepare Pecan Pie

Day before Thanksgiving

*Remove Cheesecake from freezer and place in refrigerator to thaw.

*Brine turkey

*Prepare Homemade Dinner Rolls

*Prepare White Cheddar & Squash Casserole and refrigerate.
Don’t bake until Thanksgiving day.

White Cheddar & Squash Casserole Recipe - squash tossed in a white cheddar cheese sauce and baked - like macaroni and cheese without noodles. Even squash haters will love this easy casserole! Can make ahead for entertaining.

Thanksgiving Day

*Mix together Southern Cornbread dressing and bake with turkey.

*Prepare Sweet Potatoes in Slow Cooker 8 hours prior to dinner.

{Slow Cooker} Apple-Pecan Sweet Potatoes - sweet potatoes cook all day in the slow cooker. When you are ready to serve them, drain the potatoes and add the remaining ingredients and mix with a handheld mixer right in the slow cooker. So easy! This recipe is great for Thanksgiving. No worrying about the timing of getting the sweet potatoes done with the rest of the food. Just keep the cooked potatoes on warm until you are ready to serve!

*Toss together Green Bean Casserole and Bake

*Bake Squash Casserole

*Heat Rolls


You not only want the meal to be easy to make, but you also want it to be easy to clean up! Clean up is my least favorite part!!
