Sugar and Spice Candied Nuts
Recipe adapted from Buns in my Oven
(Printable Recipe)
- 2 pounds mixed nuts
- 2 egg whites, room temperature
- 2 Tbsp water
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 1/3 cup white granulated sugar
- 1 Tbsp kosher salt
- 1 tsp paprika
- 2 tsp cinnamon
Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
In a large bowl, whisk together the egg whites and water until frothy. Add nuts and stir to coat.
In a separate bowl, mix together the sugars, salt, cayenne pepper, and cinnamon. Pour over nuts and stir to coat. Spread nuts in a single layer on a parchment lined baking sheet.
Bake for 30 minutes stirring occasionally. Remove from oven and break up nuts if they are stuck together.
Should ingreds. show 1 tsp cayenne instead of 1 tsp paprika?
These sound yummy.
But the ingredient list says to use Paprika and the description says Cayenne Pepper…which do you use?
I am adventurous and am thinking I will go with Cayenne!
I see so many folks making flavored nuts. I've got to give these a try. Thanks for the post.
We got some of these as well. Yum! We loved the variety of nuts and the the hint of cinnamon.
These are a great snack food to have on hand these holidays! I might make these today for snacking while we decorate.
