This Easy Taco Soup has been on repeat at our house. We just can’t get enough of it. This is super easy to make and it tastes GREAT! Ground beef, black beans, pinto beans, corn, ranch seasoning, taco seasoning, salsa, and chicken broth. This is seriously the BEST! Top the soup with some Fritos and your favorite taco toppings. YUM! We love this soup so much that it is already back on the menu this week!
How to Make Taco Soup with Salsa
This soup is super simple to make. Brown the ground beef. Add in black beans, pinto beans, corn, ranch seasoning, taco seasoning, salsa, and chicken broth. Bring the mixture to a boil and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes. Easy peasy!
- Can substitute ground turkey for the ground beef in the soup.

- Our favorite store-bought salsas are Pace Picante Sauce, Mateo’s, Kylito’s, and Pace Restaurant-Style Salsa.

- You can substitute a jar of Rotel diced tomatoes and green chiles for the salsa. Add an extra cup of broth if you use Rotel.
- I used chicken broth in this soup. Feel free to use any broth you prefer – chicken, beef, vegetable, or turkey broth are all good.
- I suggest salt-free or low sodium broth if using store-bought seasoning packets.
- Can Taco Soup be made in the crockpot? Yes! Brown the meat and add all the ingredients to the slow cooker. Cover and cook on LOW or HIGH until heated through.
- Can Taco Soup be frozen? Yes! You can freeze the leftover soup for a quick meal later. Allow the soup to cool completely and transfer to a plastic container or freezer bag. To reheat, thaw and reheat on the stovetop, in the crockpot, or in the microwave.
What to Serve with Taco Soup
We like to top the soup with some Fritos, sour cream, and shredded cheese. SO good! Whip up some cornbread and you are set! Leftovers taste equally delicious. Give this a try ASAP! I promise you won’t be disappointed!

This is STILL one of my go-to recipes, and one of my grown sons just asked me for my recipe! I had to turn him on to your webpage! ; ) You’re the best – love all of your recipes. #wehavethesametastes ~Candi
Is there anything I can substitute for the Ranch Seasoning? Like Ranch Dressing itself?
I wouldn't use prepared Ranch dressing. You only want the seasoning, not the sour cream/mayo that is in the dressing
What weight is the taco seasoning mix please….ours come in 2 sizes here in Australia. Also would a tin of crushed or chopped tomatoes work???? I can't wait to make this!!!!!
It is a 1oz packet of taco seasoning. I think extra chopped tomatoes would be great! Enjoy!
We did this a third time the other day (double batch). I can eat it for lunch at work all week & not get tired of it. One of my favorite soups. Pics on my page.
Did a double batch again yesterday. Again, very nice.
This stuff is the bomb! It was a huge hit at my Super Bowl party yesterday. I doubled up on it & still had none to take home. It's now in my regular rotation.
love this recipe! It gets even better the next day! My wife uses shredded chicken instead of the ground beef!
I need to try it with chicken next time!

I added rice, it was delicious! 1 cup and added 1 cup of water
I made this last night! OMG, delicious! I past the recipe on to everyone I know. I'm a little late on the whole "taco soup" trend. But not anymore! Thanks to you & Pinterest! Lol
I just made this and it was delicious! This recipe is a keeper. Thank you!
I used the largest can of V-8 juice, & a little water. YUM!
I like your version of taco soup. Don't you just love those Frito Scoops?
This is cooking in my Crock pot right now! Can't wait for dinnertime!
Taco Soup is some awesome stuff.
I was going to make it based on the first pic, but then the one with fritos and sour cream !?! I was thinking a side of corn bread, but you don't really need it with the Fritos. Maybe a side salad would be nice.
Headed out to the store for some ingredients right now!
This looks delicious! Oh, how I love tacos!
I love using Mexicorn in it to add some peppers without the effort.
Oh yes, that looks so good! And easy. I can see why ya'll are all addicted.
This looks yummy…but I am not a fan of beans….do you think this recipe would work w/o beans?
