Every year we spend a few days down in St. Augustine, Florida for The Players golf tournament. We got with my parents. The guys go to the tournament and the ladies go shopping!! There are some GREAT outlets in St. Augustine and Jacksonville is only about an hour away.
This year we ate at several new places and one previous favorite restaurant. The food was AMAZING! I am still dreaming about the food! I told Chicken Legs we need to plan another trip down soon!
We stayed at the Renaissance World of Golf hotel.
It is on property of the World Golf Hall of Fame.
It is a beautiful property.
They even have an exact replica of the famed 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass.
You can try your hand at hitting the green!
Ice Plant Bar
I was super excited to finally try Ice Plant Bar. It is located downtown next door to the distillery.
We started with the Crab Cake Beignets. YUM!
We also tried the Pretzels with mustard and cheese sauce.
I wanted to drink that cheese sauce!
Slow Cooked Duroc Pork Belly
Baked Yams & Medjool Dates, Umami Salad, Roasted Peanuts, Black Garlic Jus
Half Pound Ice Plant Burger
Grass-fed Florida Wagyu Beef, Field Greens, Munster Cheese, Aioli, Pickled Green Tomato and Hand Cut Fries
This thing was HUGE!!! Definitely enough to share.
The Ice Plant Bar also had delicious craft cocktails.
The atmosphere is nice and relaxing.
I highly recommend giving this place a try!

The Metro Diner
For lunch one day, my Mom and I tried the Metro Diner.
I read that The Metro Diner is coming to my hometown, so I wanted to check it out.
My Mom got the Chicken Salad Salad – SO good!
It was homemade and some of the best chicken salad we have ever eaten!
I got the Monte Cristo Sandwich with homemade raspberry preserves.
It was fried a sourdough sandwich stuffed with turkey, ham, cheddar and American cheese, topped with powdered sugar.
It was ridiculously good. Neither of us could stop eating this sandwich.
We wanted to ask for some extra fried bread and raspberry preserves to go!
I am still dreaming of this sandwich.
There were SO many delicious options on the menu. They serve breakfast all day.
They make all of their dressings and preserves in the restaurant, and they are all AMAZING!
I could eat here everyday I was in town. THE BEST!

Carmelo’s
We have driven by Carmelo’s for years and never stopped in to try the food.
It is located in the same building as a gas station. Don’t let that deter you from giving this place a try.
It was GREAT!
We wanted to try the garlic knots, but they were out of them. ????
We gave the cheesy garlic bread a try and it was delicious!
We also got the cheese sticks.
Chicken Legs & I LOVE fried cheese sticks and these were some of the best!
We got a couple of small pizzas for the table.
Carmelo’s Supreme
Pepperoni, Mushrooms, Onions, Sausage, Meatballs and Green Peppers
We also got the Meat Supreme pizza.
Ham, Italian Sausage, Pepperoni and Meatballs
We were all completely stuffed, but the waitress convinced us to try the homemade carrot cake.
OMG! I’m SO glad we got it! You could tell it was fresh and homemade. Delicious!
I can not wait to come back here on our next trip!
Hopefully they will have the garlic knots next time!

My Mom and I went down to the beach for a walk before lunch one day.
The shells on the Atlantic Ocean beaches are my FAVORITE!
Prohibition Kitchen
After our beach stroll, we went down to the historic area in St. Augustine.
We stumbled upon Prohibition Kitchen. Several of my Instagram followers were telling me to eat here, so we did for lunch.
We started with a bowl of soup.
We shared the Smoked Ham & Bean Soup…
and a bowl of the Beer Cheese Soup.
I couldn’t pick a favorite. They were both lick the bowl delicious!
My Mom got the House Salad with Marinated Beets, Radishes, Sweet Onion-Poppy Seed Dressing.
She LOVED it!
I eventually decided on the Fried Chicken Sandwich.
A juicy Fried Chicken Breast with Tomato Confit and Pickled Green Tomato, with Homemade Ranch
I got fries for my side.
This was AMAZING! The fries were incredible!
I’m still dreaming about that chicken! SO good!
We couldn’t leave without trying one of their crazy milkshakes.
We ended up getting the Cookies & Cream shake.
We said we were just going to have a taste, but we ended up eating almost the whole thing.
It was one of the best milkshakes EVER!
You can get the milkshakes with or without alcohol. We did without since it was lunch.
You MUST stop in at Prohibition Kitchen when you are in St. Augustine.
They have live music, fun cocktails and delicious food!

Barley Republic
Barley Republic is one of our favorite spots in historic downtown St. Augustine.
We’ve been several times, but they are always chaining their menu.
We started with the Everything Pretzels & Beer Cheese
Bavarian hot pretzels covered in our everything spice mix, served with warm house made beer cheese for dipping
We also tried the Hot Mess a.k.a. Poutine
Hand-cut pub fries smothered in melted Wisconsin cheddar cheese curds and traditional poutine gravy with green onions
You have to get Fish ‘N Chips at an Irish Pub!
Half pound of Atlantic cod fillets beer battered then fried, served with hand-cut pub fried, made in house tartar, grilled lemon, and vinegar slaw
I had the Buffalo Chicken Tenders – a half pound of buttermilk fried chicken tenders tossed in datil pepper hot sauce, served with ranch, with carrots and celery
Chicken Legs got the burger with cheese, bacon, mushrooms, pickles, lettuce and tomato.
Look at it! OMG!!!
We always LOVE going to Barley Republic.
Chicken Legs loves it because they have the best Guinness on tap in town.
