We just got back from a trip to Las Vegas. I gave Chicken Legs the trip for Christmas. We had a great time! We ate at a ton of great places, watched the College National Championship Game, gambled and I even got my hair done! We also walked a lot. I guess that’s a good thing considering everything we ate and drank!
Gallagher’s
NYNY Hotel and Casino
702.740.6450
I started with the Gallagher’s 75 cocktail.
Stoli Razberi, Fresh Lemon Juice and Simple Syrup finished with La Marca Prosecco
The cocktail was created in 1915 at the New York Bar in Paris.
The combination was said to have such a kick that it felt like being shelled with the powerful Simple French 75mm field gun.
The meal came with bread and butter.
The cranberry wheat bread was SO good.
For our appetizer, we got the Maryland Crab Cakes.
They were some of the best crab cakes we’ve ever eaten.
Gallagher’s is famous for their Bone-In Dry Aged New York Strip.
We had to give it a try. Crazy good!
We also tried the Center Cut Filet. Amazing!
For our side we got the Four Cheese Macaroni and added bacon.
Holy YUM!
We obviously did not have room for dessert. We will have to go back another time just for dessert.
Tom Colicchio’s Heritage Steak
Mirage Las Vegas
866.339.4566
We stayed at the Mirage on this trip. I bought a Jackpot Deal from Southwest, and the Mirage was a really good deal. We were actually really impressed with the hotel. The rooms were nice and there were lots of great places to eat.
We stumbled upon Tom Colicchio’s Heritage Steak on our first day.
We decided to check out their happy hour in the lounge.
I got a Manhattan – it was great. So smooth – I could have drank a ton of these.
I didn’t. I was smart and only had one!
We sampled the Tomato Flatbread with Burrata Cheese from the Lounge menu.
This was one of the best things we’ve ever eaten. I could have eaten a couple of these as my meal.
We stopped back in for a drink on our second night and decided to stay for dinner.
We started with the Skirt Steak Soy-Chili Glazed Skewers.
Delicious!
They also offer scallops and chicken skewers, but the bartender said the skirt steak was the way to go.
Chicken Legs went with the filet. It was cooked to perfection!
Heritage Steak cooks over a charcoal grill that is heated to 700 degrees (per the bartender).
It sears in all the great flavor.
I got the Tabasco-Pepper Kobe Skirt Steak.
It was great and packed a bit of a kick!
For our sides we got the Roasted Mushrooms
and the Spicy Onion Rings. YUM! The onion rings were crunchy and had a kick.
We loved absolutely everything about Heritage Steak.
The food was great and the bartenders were super friendly.
They told us lots of great stories. We will definitely go back!
Pantry
Mirage Las Vegas
702.696.7050
We ate at the Pantry before we headed to the airport.
They are a 24-hour cafe style restaurant.
Chicken Legs got the pancakes. They were HUGE and delicious!
I got the Cheddar Chive Biscuits and bacon.
The biscuits were really good. They are also huge.
The star of the breakfast was the Cinnamon Sugar Doughnut Bites.
If you only get one thing at the Pantry – get these!
YUM!
Five50 Pizza Bar
Aria Hotel and Casino
877.230.2742
We watched the College National Championship Game at Five50.
We couldn’t watch the game without a few snacks.
We got the Garlic Knots.
O-M-G! O-M-G! Get these! I absolutely LOVED these things!
So cheesy and super garlicy! Perfect!
We also got an order of the meatballs.
Incredible! Perfect with the Garlic Knots.
The Chandelier
The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas
The Chandelier is a multi-level bar in the center of The Cosmopolitan Hotel and Casino.
We stopped in for a pre-dinner drink.
It was such a fun place for a cocktail.
Border Grill Las Vegas
Forum Shops at Caesars
702.854.6700
The Border Grill opened up in the Forum Shops in the former location of PJ Clarke’s.
It wasn’t open when we were in Vegas last Fall, so we were excited to check it out.
I got a spicy margarita and Chicken Legs got a bloody mary. Both were great.
We got the Queso Fundido.
modelo especial | housemade chorizo fire roasted chiles | manchego
It came with tortillas. It was delicious!
The salsa trio was also great. We would definitely go back for lunch or dinner.
I got to try Pappy Van Winkle at Yardbird in the Venetian.
I was going to get the 12 year, but they were out.
I ended up getting the 15 year and it was really, really good.
Yardbird charged $45 for the 15 year.
We saw it on other restaurants menus for $120 – I think I got a good deal!
Getting ready for Chinese New Year in the Forum Shops.
Carnevino
Palazzo Hotel
702.789.4141
We stopped in at Carnevino for a drink and appetizer.
We love Carnevino. I especially love the Blood Orange Cosmos. SO good!
We wanted a little something to eat, so we got the Ricotta and Egg Raviolo
with brown butter. It was amazing.
Can you see the runny yolk? OMG! It was incredible with the browned butter.
They only bad thing was that it was super tiny!
Mon Ami Gabi
Paris Hotel and Casiono
3655 Las Vegas Blvd. South
702.944.4224
We had to go back to Mon Ami Gabi for lunch.
Chicken Legs got the burger and topped it with an egg.
Look at that! YUM!
I got the Croque Monsieur – ham, gruyere cheese and mornay sauce.
It has heavenly!
I love Mon Ami Gabi’s fries. They are super thin and crispy.
Carmine’s
Forum Shops at Caesar’s
702.473.9700
We went back to Carmine’s for dinner. This time we just split the enormous platter of Spicy Scarpariello Wings. We barely made a dent in them, but they are SO good. We loved every bite!
Grimaldi’s
The Grand Canal Shoppes
702.754.3448
We always eat lunch at Grimaldi’s.
The pizza is SO good. I love their sauce and the fresh mozzarella.
The crust is thin and crispy. We always eat way too much!
This was awesome. I am trying to figure out a way to go to Vegas in the spring for a conference and this just gave me more incentive to look at my budget again. Awesome pictures. And you stole my heart with the Carmine wings. Those things are the best wings EVER!
On one of our last trips we had dinner at Buca Di Beppo in Excalibur. YUM. For a cool (literally) drink experience, I recommend Minus 5 bar in Mandaly Bay. Everything in there is made of ice, the bar, the seats, the drink glasses. You order a package that includes a coat and mittens and a couple of drinks. There are furs to sit on and they offer photographs. Very fun. Also, Via Brasil at 1225 S. Fort Apache Rd. Two words–Meat Orgy 🙂 So good.
I really love your Travel posts!! I bookmark every one that you post in case we take a vacation to that area and need wonderful places to eat and stay. I also want to tell you how much I appreciate your commentary. Everything is to the point and easy to read without a lot of "You Guys" "Amazing" and "My Favorite Ever". You make me hungry and ready to travel!!! Thanks for a wonderful blog.
We are going there in December, and I wanted to come back and brush up on all your recommendations! Also, how is the weather there that time of year?
