Maple Sausage and Cream Cheese Crescent Rolls – Easy to make and even easier to love! Only 4 ingredients – ground breakfast sausage, cream cheese, maple syrup, and crescent rolls. Can make the filling ahead of time and refrigerate until ready to bake crescents. Whether served as a scrumptious breakfast or a party appetizer, they're bound to be a hit at any gathering. I always double the recipe because these never last long! YUM!
In a skillet over medium heat, cook maple sausage until no longer pink and crumbled. Drain fat.
Mix cooked sausage, cream cheese and maple syrup together.
Separate rolls into triangles. Cut eat triangle in half lengthwise - making 32 triangles.
Using a small cookie scoop, scoop sausage mixture onto the wide end of each roll and roll up.
Bake for 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
Notes:
I use Jimmy Dean Maple Breakfast Sausage.
If you can't find maple sausage, you can use regular pork sausage and add a little extra maple syrup or maple extract.
Can use turkey sausage, reduced-fat crescent rolls, and low-fat cream cheese for reduced calories.
I like to chill the sausage filling for about 20 or 30 minutes before assembling the crescent rolls. I find that the filling stays together better if slightly chilled.
I use a pizza cutter to cut the crescent roll dough into two triangles.
Make sure to chop any large chunks of sausage. You can do this with a knife or pulse the sausage in a food processor before combing it with the cream cheese and syrup.
Can I make Sausage Crescent Rolls in advance? Yes! You can make the cream cheese mixture ahead of time and store in the fridge for up to 3 days before assembling the rolls.
Can I Freeze Sausage Crescent Rolls? Yes. Place the cooled crescent rolls in a freezer-safe container and store them for up to 2 months.
Thaw them out in the fridge before reheating them.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Reheat in the microwave or in a toaster oven.
These sausage crescent rolls are PERFECT for Christmas morning! Make the sausage filling Christmas Eve and bake them up in this cute Christmas Tree shape! I sprinkled the baked crescents with some parsley so the tree was green. SO easy & SO festive!!
