Chili Cheese Pigs in a Blanket - baked pigs in a blanket smothered in chili and cheese. SO much better than a regular ol' chili cheese dog. Great for parties or a quick lunch or dinner. Crescent rolls, dijon mustard, little smokies, chili, and cheddar cheese. I have zero self-control around this chili cheese dog casserole! Dangerously delicious! #tailgating #pigsinablanket #partyfood #appetizer
Preheat oven to 375ºF. Lightly spray a 9x13-inch baking pan with cooking spray.
Unroll both cans of crescent rolls; separate into 12 triangles. Spread a heaping teaspoon of Dijon mustard on each triangle. Cut each triangle lengthwise into 3 narrow triangles.
Place sausage on wide side of each triangle. Roll up and place in prepared pan.
Bake uncovered for 20 to 25 minutes, until golden brown.
Remove from oven and spoon chili over crescent rolls. Top with shredded cheese.
Bake an additional 10 to 15 minutes, until chili is warm and cheese is melted.
Notes:
Can use regular or low-fat crescent rolls. Make sure to use the regular sized crescent rolls and not the Grands! sized.
I find it easier to cut the crescent roll dough with a pizza cutter.
If you aren't a fan of dijon mustard, you can leave it out.
I used a can of Hormel no bean chili. Feel free to use a can of chili with beans if you prefer. Any brand will work.
If you don't want to use canned chili, you can use an equivalent amount of leftover homemade chili.
You can use any flavor of shredded cheese. I like sharp cheddar or Colby-Jack best.
