BBQ Pork Steam Buns - super easy to make with only 2 ingredients! We are obsessed with these easy steam buns! Refrigerated biscuit dough and BBQ pulled pork. Add hoisin sauce or Sriracha to spice them up. Ready in 15 minutes! You must make these ASAP!
Fill a wide, deep skillet or Dutch Oven with 1-inch of water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
Meanwhile, gently roll out the biscuits into 4.5-inch rounds. For each bun, spoon about 1 tablespoon of pulled pork onto the center of each dough round. Bring the edges of the biscuit together to the center. Pinch tops of the buns together to seal.
Spray the bamboo steamer with cooking spray and line with parchment paper. (Cut slits in parchment paper to allow steam to escape if you don't have the precut liners.)
Set the steamer basket over the boiling water. Add the biscuits to the basket, spacing evenly. Cover and steam for 15 minutes, until cooked through and puffed.
Gently transfer the buns to a wire rack to cool slightly.
Notes:
It is important to use a can of 7.5-oz refrigerated biscuits. They come with 4 in a pack. There will be 10 biscuits in each can. You can find them at Walmart.
I tried this recipe with larger biscuits and they were just way too big and had too much dough.
For the bbq pulled pork, I used a package of premade bbq pork from the grocery store. You can also use pulled pork from your favorite restaurant or make your own.
Feel free to add some hoisin sauce or Sriracha to the pulled pork.
Be careful not to overfill and crowd the steamer basket. The biscuits need space to expand as they cook. I cooked six buns at a time in each layer of the steamer.
I purchased bamboo steamer liners to use in this recipe. If you don't want to buy the liners, you can cut out small squares of parchment paper for each bun, or cut a round circle that fits in the steamer. My liners had small holes in them to allow the steam to get through. You can see them in the photo above.
