Puff Pastry Cinnamon Rolls recipe - these are the easiest homemade cinnamon rolls I’ve ever made. They are so tender and flaky and ready in about 30 minutes. The best part about this recipe is there is NO YEAST and no kneading and no rising! Puff pastry, egg, brown sugar, cinnamon, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla. Great for breakfast, brunch, and dessert. Can make in advance and freeze for later.
Preheat oven to 400ºF. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Set aside.
In a small bowl, beat egg with a fork to break it up.
Roll 1 sheet of puff pastry dough into an 11x7-inch rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
Brush the pastry with a thin layer of the egg. Sprinkle with 3 tablespoons of brown sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon.
Starting at a long side, tightly roll up the puff pastry. Using a sharp knfe, cut crosswise into 8 pieces. Place rolls cut-side down on the baking sheet.
Repeat with remaining puff pastry dough. Brush rolls with egg wash.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
In a small bowl, stir together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. Add more milk, if necessary, to get the desired consisency.
Drizzle glaze over warm rolls.
Notes:
Can use white sugar or brown sugar in the filling.
Feel free to add chopped nuts to the filling. Pecans, walnuts, and pistachios are delicious.
Can Puff Pastry Cinnamon Rolls be frozen? Yes! You can freeze the rolls sliced or unsliced.
To freeze already sliced cinnamon rolls, assemble the rolls and place them on a baking sheet. Place the baking sheet in the freezer and freeze until solid. Place the frozen roll in a freezer bag and freeze for up to 2 months.
When ready to bake, place the cinnamon rolls on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake until golden brown. You will need to add a few minutes to the baking time since the rolls are frozen.
To freeze unsliced cinnamon roll dough, sprinkle the dough with cinnamon and sugar. Roll up the dough and wrap it tightly in plastic wrap. Freeze the log.
When ready to bake, thaw the dough in the refrigerator overnight. Slice it into rolls, and bake as directed.
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
