Notes:
To make homemade self-rising flour:
1 cup self-rising flour = 1 cup all-purpose flour + 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder + 1/4 teaspoon salt
To make homemade buttermilk:
1 cup buttermilk = 1 Tablespoon white vinegar + 1 cup milk
1 cup buttermilk = 1 Tablespoon lemon juice + 1 cup milk
Gently stir together and let sit for 5 minutes before using.
Make sure to use a high-quality mayonnaise in this recipe. I use Duke's Mayonnaise. Hellmann's Mayonnaise also works great in this biscuit recipe.
What can I add to the biscuits? Feel free to jazz these biscuits up with some fresh herbs or grated cheese. Parmesan cheese or cheddar cheese is delicious.
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature.
