Bacon Pinwheels Recipe - our go-to appetizer for parties and get-togethers! Equally delicious for breakfast and brunch. These cream cheese bacon crescents are simple to make and packed full of amazing flavor. Bacon, cream cheese, parmesan cheese, onion powder, parsley, milk, and crescent rolls. You might want to double the recipe – they go fast!
2(8-oz)can refrigerated crescent rolls or crescent sheet
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 375°F.
In a large bowl, combine cream cheese, onion powder, parsley, and milk with an electric mixer. Stir in chopped bacon and grated parmesan cheese.
Open each can of dough. Firmly press perforations together to seal. Spread each rectangle with ½ of the cream cheese mixture. Roll each rectangle up jelly roll style and cut into 16 pinwheels (32 total). Place on a parchment-paper lined baking sheet.
Bake for 15 to 18 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
Notes:
Can substitute turkey bacon.
Feel free to add more bacon if you would like.
For a lower-calorie dish, use low-fat cream cheese.
I don't recommend fat-free cream cheese.
You can use freshly grated parmesan cheese or the cheese in the green can.
If you don't like parmesan cheese, you can substitute any cheese that you enjoy. Shredded cheddar cheese or gouda cheese are both delicious.
Feel free to add vegetables to the cream cheese mixture. A few tablespoons of chopped bell pepper, olives, and roasted red peppers would be yummy.
Can I make Bacon Pinwheels ahead of time? I think these appetizers taste best the day they are made. You can make the cream cheese filling ahead of time and cover with plastic wrap and store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Remove the bowl from the refrigerator about an hour before assembling the pinwheels.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
