Place all ingredients in the bowl of an electric stand mixer fitted with the dough hook attachment. Mix until well combined.
Scoop sausage mixture into 1-inch balls and place on a parchment paper-lined rimmed baking sheet.
Bake for 18 - 20 minutes, or until brown.
Notes:
Can use a can of diced jalapeno peppers or diced green chiles.
For spicier sausage balls, use fresh diced jalapeno peppers.
I use Jimmy Dean sausage. You can use any flavor of ground pork sausage you enjoy.
Can substitute turkey sausage.
Use Gluten-Free Bisquick for a gluten-free recipe.
If you don't have stand mixer, you can combine the ingredients in a large bowl and mix with a wooden spoon or by hand.
You can use any shredded cheese that you enjoy. Sharp cheddar cheese, pepper jack cheese, or a Mexican cheese blend are all delicious.
Can I freeze sausage balls? Yes! Mix together the ingredients and shape the pork mixture into balls. Place the balls on a baking sheet and freeze. Once the balls are frozen, transfer to a ziplock freezer bag.
To bake, remove the sausage balls from the freezer and bake as directed, adding a few minutes to the cooking time.
