1(12-oz)bag semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted and cooled
5cupspowdered sugar, may need a little more
½cupheavy cream or whole milk
2tsppure vanilla extract
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350ºF. Grease and flour cake pans.
In a very large bowl, mix together all cake ingredients. The batter will be thick. Pour batter into cake pan of choice.
For cooking time, use the cooking times on the back of the cake mix box as a guide. Do the toothpick check after the suggested cooking time; if it’s not done check on it every 5 mins after that.
Cool and frost with buttercream (recipe below).
BEST Chocolate Buttercream
In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream butter until smooth and creamy, 2 to 3 minutes.
With mixer on low speed, add melted chocolate, powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla; mix until light and fluffy.
If necessary, gradually add more powdered sugar or heavy cream to reach desired consistency.
