Beer Cheese Sauce - CRAZY good! Beer, cheese, flour, Worcestershire sauce, dry mustard, and paprika. Takes less than 5 minutes to make. Tastes just like the beer cheese sauce from our favorite Irish pub. Great with grilled sausages!!
1cupshredded cheddar cheese
salt and pepper
In a small saucepan, heat beer over medium-high heat until it bubbles. Stir in flour and cheese. Whisk until cheese has melted and is smooth. Whisk in dry mustard, paprika, salt and pepper. Remove from heat.
To thicken the sauce, add a flour a little bit at a time. For a thinner sauce, add small amounts of beer until it reaches the desired consistency.
Can use any beer you prefer. I usually use Michelob Ultra because that is what is in the house.
For a gluten-free sauce, use a gluten-free beer and substitute corn starch for the flour.
I used sharp cheddar cheese. This would also be good with some smoked gouda.
Keep the dip warm in a crockpot for parties.
Does Beer Cheese Sauce have alcohol in it? Yes. The recipe does use actual beer. Feel free to use an alcohol-free beer if you want an alcohol free dip.
Can refrigerate leftovers. Reheat in a crockpot on low or in the microwave.
