Slice french bread into 1-inch slices and place in a lighly greased 9x13-inch pan.
Mix together cream cheese and Italian seasoning. Spread over french bread.
Chop meatballs and sprinkle over cream cheese mixture. Pour spaghetti sauce evenly over meatballs. Top wtih mozzarellla cheese.
Bake 25-30 minutes, until bubbly and cheese is melted.
Notes:
Feel free to toast the bread slices for a crunchier casserole.
Can substitute Texas toast or frozen garlic bread slices for the french bread.
Don't like cream cheese? Try ricotta cheese or a combination of cream cheese and ricotta.
I used frozen meatballs in this dish. Feel free to use homemade meatballs if you prefer.
My favorite store-bought spaghetti sauces are Trader Joe’s Roasted Garlic Marinara (green label), Rao’s, and La Famiglia DelGrosso.
Can Meatball Sub Casserole be made in advance? Yes. I would wait to add the spaghetti sauce until you were ready to bake it. I think the bread would get too soggy otherwise.
